any suggestions for water to a cabin that does not have any? There is a tank approx. 30 yards we were thinking about running a line from it and putting a filtration system on it. How difficult might that be. Any suggestions on something different are welcome.

We used three 55 gal. poly drums on a elevated platform behind our cabin. We attatched a rain gutter to catch water runoff and directed it into the drums. I installed a faucet on the bottom of the drums for a water hose along with a pvc fitting which I piped into the cabin to the sink. It worked really well for washing dishes. I also bought a small 12 volt bilge pump for when I need a larger volume of water.

If the tank is clear and clean no problem. You can go with a sump pump on a float suspended about a foot below the surface. Run black plastic pipe back to the house to feed it. Hook it up on a switch so you can turn it on when water is needed. The poly tank is good too. We had a 350 on our lease with a 12 volt RV pump that would feed on demand. Insta heat hot water heaters are great, we have several at our church.

A buddy of mine has a lease outside of Eden and they have a pretty neat water system. They have a 5000 gallon black tank and they have the County come in right before deer season and fill it for like a $100 or so. They have a pump that gets it to the house and so on. This last them throughout deer season.

A friend has a lease two hours away and hauls water over there in barrels (55 gallon I think). Plenty for his RV trailer.

BrandonA, I had a similar setup at a previous lease, but paid a freshwater service to deliver. Does a couny provide this sort of service? Can you ask your buddy?
as for my current lease, I use a two axle (2,500 lb, axle) trailer, with a 325 gallon water tank (green/black color for potable water), with a shallow well pump to provide pressure to my travel trailer. This works pretty well.

I will ask him. I believe he told me that there is a minimum # of gallons. The person you would call would be the Cnty Comissioners office. I am not sure if all the counties do this. The water was not good for drinking. They would bring in there drinking water. They also would pour in a bottle or two of bleach to kill any bad stuff.

Shower = Hot water
For instant hot water, Take 4"x.25" flatbar. Build 8"x8" square and cover the top w/ steel. Cut or drill holes in side near top all the way around. Take 3/8" soft copper tubing and bend around 2" pvc pipe. Remove PVC and take the copper coil and attact it inside square box with tubing fittings. Drill holes in box and weld in tubing unions to attach coil. Attach inlet of tubimg to water supply and outlet to shower head. Start water through coil to shower head and set on fish cooker. Instant hot water. Or spend 100 on a ZODI shower. That's what I use on traveling hunts where there's no shower.
