I need some idea's on back yard storage sheds

I will be moving soon and after I check with the H.O.A. for the guideline on can and cants, I'll need a backyard storage shed. Any ideas or pictures are highly appreciated. I found a guy selling roll up metal doors cheap, gonna pick up an 8 x 10. I'd like a concrete slab also. Thanks.

When we built ours, per the HOA and deed restrictions, it couldn't be more than 144 square feet and had to look like the house. Since the back of the house is Hardee plank, the shed is also. I mimiked the columns on our back porch and used a set of French doors that we pulled out of our house in Victoria, for the entry. And yes, a concrete foundation is the only way to go. I think all said and done my 12'x12' with a 12'x4' porch cost about $1200.

Make sure you read the deed restrictions and double check any "HOA approval" procedures before you start building. If they're strict, and you don't follow the rules, it can get ugly.

Depending on HOA requirements, Id buy or build as BIG as you can....you'll never have enough space.

Although I dont have any HOA requirements to follow, I built a 12X16 last summer....now Im wishing I'd done 16X20.

          Just a thought....

ACWMHunter is right... you might think you have enough space but as soon as you build it you will be thinking to yourself, "I could've gone bigger." Plus being able to move equipment around comfortably is a plus. A good size shed can turn a garage into a man-cave palace.

was that 1200 with you doing the work or was that hired out?

That's only the wood related materials.
I had the builder (of the house) pour the slab when they were pouring other flatwork.

I would say go bigger than what you estimate. I was so worried about the size of mine being too big and realistically, it wasn't big enough. Once you store your lawn accessories, hunting toys and items, it just wasn't enough room. If I had to do it all over again, I would have made mine bigger.

I bought a house last year that had a 12x16 Tuff Shed in the back. It really seems to be a pretty decent, well constructed shed. I moved it about 40' after moving in and it seemed solid as a rock. Wasn't flimsy at all.

But like the others said, clear it with the HOA then go biiiiig.

Do it yourself. (If you have the right friends and family) This old building was about to fall down. We tore it down and then replaced it in a weekend. Well, the outside was in a weekend, the inside took a little longer. I still need to do a little organizing and finishing on the inside. We have a lawn in the backyard now, too.

An AT&T tech was here working on our Uverse and when he was leaving, he kinda whispered to me, "hey, what's up with that little house in the back yard?"
