When the U. S traded that arms dealer for Brittney Griner many said that by giving Putin what he wants we make other Americans in Russia more likely to be detained and used as bargaining chips. Well, here we are again. They arrested a reporter from the Wall Street Journal on charges of espionage. I've been reading his reports from Moscow for several years, most recently about the effect of sanctions on their economy and he's done some pieces on the Wagner Group. (the private military/mercenary organization that is supplying fighters against Ukraine.) I wonder what Putin will demand for his release? I'm sure his plight will not receive the attention and outrage that Griner's did.

If he is a legitimate journalist ONLY. We for sure have loads of resources in Russia playing press and a host of embassy/consulate positions. I personally wouldn’t go to Russia right now. If I was a legit journalist I would not go investigating US sanctions against an enemy we are fighting an active war against. Ukraine is cute and all but without us they would all have Russian passports right now.
Im not saying that be an *******, if the guy is legit… well either way his life is about to get real ****ty and forever so I dont lack empathy.Last edited by Ætheling; 03-30-2023, 04:02 PM.
