An automatic watch with a small generator used to power a quartz for crazy accuracy. I got it bad for this watch and I probably will have to sell a couple guns to buy this. Watch costs $2 - $10k depending on ....

Grand Seiko, for the money, is one of the best made and finished watches on the market. The dial finishes, hand finishing, etc, are just spectacular. They just don't hold value on the secondary market like the big Swiss brands.

Grand Seiko does not have good marketing. It's really bad. Only the Japan Domestic Market and watch geeks know the brand.

That said, I get more eye-candy minutes of enjoyment from my Grand Seiko every day than I do from any other non-vehicle toy that I own.

Viewed under magnification, it's truly beautiful, and it tells time accurately.

In 1968, the Japanese swept the world timepiece accuracy competitions after only five years of participation, so the Swiss cancelled all of the competitions.

When the Swiss re-started the competition in 2009, only European manufactured movements were allowed.

I like the power reserve dial on the front. But also like the power reserve dial to be on the back of the watch.

I have not worn a watch in years and now that I’m retire I just need one that has date and day of week. I wore watches 24/7 for years. Never took it off so if I got called out I’d have it on
