I haven't listened, and I am not saying his opinion isn't stupid, but Jews generally did not inhabit present day Israel prior to 1880, and only started moving back to Israel in the late 1800s, after severe prosecution in Russia. At that time, the Arabs actually declared themselves friends of the Israeli's, and invited them to immigrate there. Then, immigration accelerated after WWI when, in the 1920s, the Brits controlled this area, and Jews escaping persecution in Russia, Poland, and Hungary fled to Israel as the Brits defended them. The Brits allowed unfettered Israeli immigration despite the protest of the Arabs that were already living there. Then WWII happened, and the rest is history.

It is far more complicated than that. If you want the full, in depth, story of how modern day Israel came to be, the Martyr Made podcast by Darryl Cooper has a fantastic 6 part series (I think its like 20 plus hours) on the subject called Fear and Loathing in the New Jerusalem.

You're basically repeating what I said. I haven't listened to the podcast to get the context, but I assume this guy is talking about the last major migration back to Israel. Prior to the late 1800s, the Jews were largely disbursed in eastern Europe and had lost a lot of their Jewish tradition and roots.

The Zionist movement started in the late 1800s to bring Jews back to their homeland.

This. The major downside of Hebrews inhabiting the land bridge of the Levant is there have always been foreign armys wanting to control the region for trade routes between Mid East, Asia, Africa and resources.

The ancient Jews lived in Israel (well into BCE, before common era) and killed each other through city states. Other kingdoms (Egyptian, Babylonians, etc) killed ancient Jews. The ancient Jews were dispersed, removed from Israel and enslaved then allowed to return several times throughout BCE and CE history.

Once Roger Waters referred to Palestinians as “indigenous peoples” around 22 minutes, I had my fill and was done. I was really excited to hear Waters talk and wanted to hear stories of sex, drugs, rock and roll, not communist antisemite garbage.

I mainly said a prayer for all those who are drawn to him for his music and get exposed to his communism. I did pray for Waters too although and because he is an Athiest.

The world is a brutal place. The Jews fought to get their land back. They win, and they get to keep it. But saying the land is always the Jews because they were there in the past is a weak argument, and in direct conflict with what we American's did to the Indians. With this argument, we could argue the Mongols can claim a far more vast empire then their current state, as could China and Russia (USSR).

And the conflict is not as surface level as everyone likes to make it. When you start into the weeds of modern day Israel, starting in 1880 when the modern state began to form and mass migration began, you realize both sides have fault in the current conflict.

Also, Waters is clearly a westerner who loves to meddle in other peoples business.
