The legislative branch of our government is now and has been worthless for some a long time. Even if the Republicans take both the house and the senate in November, nothing will happen.
Amen! Everyone that signed on to increase spending when Rs were in charge are worthless... But wait, that includes Trump. The best thing for our country is when neither party controls all 3 branches. Gridlock is our friend because the one thing that they ALL agree on is that they need to spend more of our money.
I believe if there were more of like minds something would get done. However, some elected Republicans aren't truly conservatives in the sense that we think they should be. Some get elected in states that are...iffy; John Cornyn for instance. You can rattle sabres all you want, but if you don't have the votes, you're SOL.
I don't like the "pressure" politics being practiced this age; Demonrats pressure EVERY Demonrat to vote their way. That is not supposed to be how our government works. But, just once, I wished the weak a&& Republicans would bind together and get something done about it. Like you say tho......
John Cornyn could have had this part in Hunt for Red October: Listen, I'm a politician, which means I'm a cheat and a liar, and when I'm not kissing babies, I'm stealing their lollipops. But it also means I keep my options open.
Nothing is going to happen. Cruz as usual all bark and zero bite.
Man I have always highly admired Cruz, and I thought he did a great job calling attention to the FBI domestic terrorist symbolism. I guess he could have done more. What would someone with all bark and all bite do?

You are right that he brings or has brought a lot of attention to not just this issue but also plenty of other issues. Just bringing attention to issues gets about zero done IMHO. And I realize that currently the republicans can’t pass any legislation.
For example, obviously he is one of just two senators from Texas. He knows and has known for a long time as to the issues with illegal immigration. What did he do when republicans had control of the house and senate as far as writing new or amending the useless immigration laws? Perhaps I am wrong or missed it but I don’t believe he introduced any ground braking laws that would even began to help.
He like a Linsey Graham along with a lot of other worthless members of congress go around pointing out the obvious. We need stuff done not just pointed out to us. Look at the dems, I don’t agree with their policy and the legislation they are pushing but they are getting it done. For example Joe Mansion is about to get a pipeline approved for his state. Imagine that, a dem getting a fossil fuel pipe line approved for his state when Dems are supposed to be the “green” party. To me, that’s getting something done.
Take a look at the video I posted above, this guy points out the issues with the alphabet soup agency and IMHO does a better job of it. And yes, I realize he is defending himself so he has a vested interest.

What would you have him do? Ask the FBI investigate the FBI?
People need to wake up and realize that the system of Government our Founders left for us no longer exists. The real power is in the Leviathan made up of 3 letter agencies. We only live in a Representative government on the face. What we actually have is a Bureaucracy.

Exactly. All the Cruz criticism is based on a lack of understanding of what a lone Senator can actually do by himself - very little. If Trump was a Senator, he wouldn't be able to do much either. We need a lot more like Cruz, but lots of folks just want to trash him.
When I read the letter that describes the kinds of things that you’re talking about, I found it deeply troubling," Wray testified Thursday.
And now it's put to bed. Wray won't lift a finger. At least until after Jan23 assuming Republicans take both houses and maybe not even then. Wray has had over 4 years to clean house and not one person fired or in jail. Same with DOJ. They not gonna investigate themselves. Ever! The only way to clean house is impeachments and Trump to win in 2024.

Joe Mansion seems to be doing a good job getting stuff done by himself.
Obviously we know Cruz is a better senator than the Rino that prances around as a republican. And we know we are better of with either of them than we would be with a democrat. But what exactly has Cruz done that would not be done by another republican senator in his place??

He definitely isn’t what he was 15 years ago Sir! He’s turned 180 from that as far as I’m concerned. He is definitely Swamp. It’s a shame that he didn’t hold on to his values.

that's because he is the SWING VOTE. The Dems need his vote and the Repubs need his vote.
He's done about the same as any other Republican could have done; they don't have the majority!!!!!
I'll be surprised that, even if they win the House and Senate, they have enough die hard conservative to affect a change. The majority of Republican Senators don't have the nads to make big changes. I think only 4 or 5 of the present crop would be willing to take on the DNC communist party.

So what did Cruz do in 2016 when he was part of the 52 senate majority?? All he had to do was join forces with two other republican senators and he would have had the same power Mansion has now.
I will say this. I have never paid enough attention to politics to stay informed until the last 6 years or so. Perhaps Cruz was a good senator at some point, I believe he is mostly swamp now.

Cruz is a great senator, the dems and RINOs hate him, so there's that. Most of the belly achers bellyache all the time, about every body.

Are you speaking of something in specific?
if they had 52, he wasn't a swing vote. why would he have to join with 2 others as long as everyone voted along party lines, like they do these days(for the most part)?
swing vote doesn't come into play unless you got a deadlock(50-50) with one going with the other party. that gives 51-49 and the Vice president doesn't come into play as deciding in favor of ruling party.
It doesn't matter if you have 10 or 20 diehard conservatives; if the other 32 or 42 don't want to go along, their mission is dead.
Heck, even, if the chairman of the senate doesn't want to bring it to a vote, they're doomed also.

All I am asking is what has he done that makes him such a great senator as folks are saying? I have not heard of him doing anything to help the state of Texas. Perhaps I am wrong. Someone, anyone please enlighten me on what makes him such a great senator? What has he done that any other republican senator voting on party lines wouldn’t have done?
As far as your question as to why join up with two senators, because that would creat the same leverage as a swing vote situation. He along two other senators potentially could have gotten funding for projects need in their states. . The reason I bring up 2016 is because it’s the last time the republicans had control of the senate and house along with a republican president. Which is obviously when the parties can get stuff done/passed.
