Amazing - So R's want to rewrite the Constitution

Glad I could be corrected as I though that was the D's trying to do that.

Republicans' next big play is to 'scare the hell out of Washington' by rewriting the Constitution. And they're willing to play the long game to win.

      Exactly.

The media will gloss over these facts and will portray this as a nazification of this country, without ever getting into the facts. This convention. IF it happens, will get rid of the life long politicians, and will put this country back on to the road of having a true balanced budget. Hopefully it won’t be too late.

My point is D's really want to change everything in many many unconstitutional ways. But it's crickets.

R's just think about maybe having a meeting to talk about actual needed changes and like 91 says it's blasted all over media as Nazis

If we're re-writing stuff, let's go ahead and do Texas independence so we don't have to ask Cali an NY what should be in our constitution.

Definitely term limits. Heck we might be able to get abortion in there also. I am not a fan of abortion. But a 10 year old should not be pregnant. Also if medically necessary to keep mother alive. But other than that - abortion should not be allowed.

Then again maybe a baby can survive being born by a 10 year old girl. Anyone know if that is possible?

Any yea we need to upgrade the constitution.

So making changes to the constitution can go both ways…and probably for the worse. Considering the recent events and all the corruption happening.

                .
Don’t know about a 10 year old but I know a girl that delivered a baby one month after she turned 13. Two months after that, grandma had her baby.

I think that that is not likely the case.

It takes a vote of at least 2/3 of both houses of Congress or the same 2/3 votes from the states (34 states) to bring it up for consideration and then ratification by 3/4 (38 states) to pass.

In 2016 Trump, who was controversial then, carried ((I think) 33 states and Clinton 17.

For a new constitutional amendment to pass, all of the Trump states from 2016 and an additional five states need to ratify the amendment. Even some of the 17 that Clinton won, were barely in that column. I could believe places like Michigan and Wisconsin would lean toward conservative on some constitutional amendments such as strengthening the 2A.

It would be hard to get any amendment passed and I don’t see any issue that the progressive/socialist Democrats could get passed into an amendment that would receive the 38 required state approval. It is simply not going to happen. It only takes 13 states to not ratify an amendment to kill it.

I agree on all parts. A convention of the states is inherently difficult to achieve and to pass things for this exact reason. If one succeeds, it can only be a win for conservatives. If term limits show up, watch all the R swamp creatures collectively freak out and fight like hell, though.

Yes it will be a lot of work. Very difficult to accomplish. But not impossible. It took three constitutional amendments and a civil war to end slavery. America is unique because we believe our rights come from God, not government. That is why the democrats are trying to erase religion from our public discourse. They want the government to grant and remove rights. You may notice Trump is not allowed to defend himself in the J6 hearings. They don't want him to have the right of due process. If POTUS does not have due process - than neither does any one else in this country.

Let’s be honest. It IS impossible for all practical purposes. The country is not getting more conservative, it’s going the other way. You don’t have to like it but that’s just the way it is.

DJT can’t defend himself at the J6 hearings because it isn’t a trial. There is no right to due process there. Fellas, for us to be taken seriously we can’t be ignorant.

It doesn’t matter, it’s not like the dems follow the constitution anyway. They do want they want when they want
