Debbie Stabinow, Senator from Michigan, in the Janet Yellen hearing told how she drove her electric car from Michigan to D.C. over the weekend and when she went by all the gas stations "she didn't have to worry about the price of gas".... And these people are the ones that have been elected to represent us and fix these kind of problems. How can you fix a problem if you don't understand it.

They understand just fine. They don't want to fix it because, in their eyes, it isn't a problem. It's a means to an end. They aren't dumb (although many are incompetent), they are malevolent and power hungry.
