The VERY basic training required for LTC is laughable at best. Many people in the 20 person class I was in had never handled a firearm of any kind before, other than taking a few shots just days before the class.. It was a total ***** show at the range.. Many should not have passed that did simply because they were so uncomfortable handling their pistol..
I'm very surprised that more people are not shooting themselves or others more often..

I wonder if this guy had any training.

That one always cracks me up. Especially because of what he said right before capping himself.

If I remember correctly (which at my age is questionable), he sued someone for releasing that tape (when it was actually tape) and it hampering his law-enforcement career.

During my first CCL class I personally witnessed a woman completely miss the entire target all 3 first shots from a .38 revolver at 3 yards during qualifying. Once she quit shutting her eyes every trigger pull she was finally able to score some hits. I'm not sure she ever got a center hit at 5 and 7 yards. Eventually she passed and got a CCL. Qualifying was a joke at best where I took the class.
Even more crazy is the instructor was a retired DPS officer. Classroom was pretty good but the range was a joke.

The one I did was nothing more than a sales pitch for some self defense insurance company. Garbage course for a garbage requirement. So glad we have Constitutional Carry now

I did mine when they were first allowed, like probably the first handful of classes ever done. We had an assistant DA lecture the class and take Q&A and all sorts of things, lunch was even catered so we could get more class time. For qualifying they told us flat out they wouldn't help clear weapons or jams and if we couldn't shoot we would fail. Sounds like all that stopped pretty quickly because I've never heard anyone say anything other than their class was BS.

I did mine in the summer of '98 and we had to have a minimum of seven confirmed kills before we could even enroll.

Lol we might have been in the same class!!!
There was a dude in my class, mid 40's, that decided he needed to qualify with a BRAND NEW .45 cal 911.. He didn't even know how to load a magazine.. I think he pointed that gun in every direction but the target.. I know for a fact he failed!! But it took a while..
