During the pandemic we learned how dependent we are on China for pharmaceuticals and medical PPE. Russia invading Ukraine has shown how dependent on that part of the world (especially those two countries) that we are for energy (especially with the Dems in charge) and agricultural products- fertilizer, wheat, sunflower oil to name a few. Reason and common sense seem to be non-existent to the woke left even to the point of reversing policies until we are ready for their agenda. The greenies don't seem to have a problem with Biden begging other countries for oil, even though it is "dirtier" than what we produce, rather than reinstate whatever it takes to get us producing more. Oil and fossil fuels are oil and fossil fuels no matter where it comes from. Hopefully we can hold on until the mid-terms and the idiot Dems that voted these fools in because their feelings got hurt over some tweets will be hurting enough to realize they made a mistake last time and change course. Then it will be up to the rest of us to make sure who we vote into office are held accountable to get something passed that will reverse the Biden executive orders.

Totally agree on the fact we are totally dependent on other countries for a lot/most of the products we consume… the question is how we got here? by buying cheap stuff not made here… let’s not put all the blame on politicians… our current society is so into having everything and having it now at the cheapest price possible… IMHO our greed for money and materialistic crap is what has us where we are

IMO it's ok to buy cheap. That's how we are "richer" than other countries. They are basically our slave labor.
But it's not OK to road block Americans in America trying to compete. If government stepped aside our own oil/gas would be cheaper than buying from others.
That being said some regulation is needed.. Just too bad you give these sorry bastages any power they run with it and regulate as it fits them and not the Country.

Buying cheap is what has driven manufactures over seas. How are American companies supposed to compete with not just labor costs but also regulations that at the end of the day affect the bottom line?
for example, take an LED light bulb. Not that long ago dollar stores had light bulbs at $1. Most of these bulbs have multiple LEDs, some type of light diffuser ( not sure if diffuser is right terminology) and a tiny power supply that converts ac to dc. There is no way you could even source those parts for that amount much less manufacture these bulbs in America. Again this is just one example. Manufactures in America can not compete with those cheap manufactures over seas.
