I have been in regular contact with a friend and business colleague in Australia regarding this situation and this is NOT happening all over the country. It is isolated to 2 southern states but primarily the state of Victoria... He told me that Victoria is their "California"... It's full of loons. He's in the northern part of the continent and things are pretty much normal there. They don't wear masks, social distance or anything. They attend football (soccer/kickball) games in stadiums, fish and do normal things like we do around here...

Normal doesn't make the news... Freak shows make news and are much better click bait... It's no different really there rather than here...

True but for those unfortunate enough to live in those states where it is draconian that is their reality. My aunt lives on the Gold Coast and hasn't been allowed to leave her home going on some insane time period. Over a month by now.

Oh I totally agree. Where it's happening, it's real for them... no different than the unfortunate folks that are caught up in New York's and California's draconian policies... Heck, Harris County for that matter... It's real for folks stranded here too!

I don't doubt for a second if our population was disarmed our government would be doing the same as the rest of the Western world.

Yep, I have a customer over there that I talk to quite often. He lives outside of town and hasn't been able to leave his home in over a month other than for essentials. They also limit the amount of Alcohol he can buy when they do let him go grocery shopping. It's probably because Covid spreads faster if you have more than 1 drink a day.
