Took my youngest to one of her friend’s bday parties. Start talking fly fishing with the birthday boy’s dad, who was in an orthopedic walking boot. Eventually ask him what he did. He goes on to tell me he was at a guys weekend the prior weekend before doing their fantasy football draft and must of had too much drink. Said he woke up and his foot wouldn’t really move. Docs call it “drop foot”, which I’m very familiar with as a symptom of muscular dystrophy. He said the docs concluded he apparently slept in an awkward position and pinched a nerve in his leg. Goes on to say he had his last vax shot the week before.
This is why I refuse. An otherwise young healthy, active man has an unexplained loss of mobility and in his words the docs brushed off any possibility of an adverse vax interaction.
My nurse/wife overheard the conversation. We discussed after left. Her reaction the odds seem far greater for a vaccine interaction than him drinking too much and passing out in a weird position.
How many more occurrences like this are getting no more attention than a brush off?
