I haven't posted in while but need to vent and just say eff covid. A friend of mine and former co-worker is currently on a ventilator and given about a 20% chance of survival due to his covid infection. He's in his mid 50's, worked out regularly, strong as heck and all around relatively healthy. He was one of my favorite people to work around and always had a smile on his face. Just an all around good dude. Asking for prayers for him.
I'm also going to vent a little bit here and believe me, I am a conservative and this is not a political rant.
I rarely get the flu shot and the only two times I've taken it, I ended up with the flu later that year. I equated the covid vaccine to the flu shot and was on the fence about getting it done. Not because I am an anti-vaxxer. However, I had not seen my parents in over a year and they were more comfortable with visiting if my wife and I had the vaccine (my wife was going to get it regardless to what I decided). It was at that point I decided to get the vaccine. I was tired of not seeing my family.
An acquaintance of mine died earlier this year from covid but she had severe underlying health conditions so it wasn't a total shock that she passed. But knowing my friend and physically strong individual has been given less than a 20% chance of survival, I wonder if and only if he would have gotten the vaccine if he would be faring better at this point.
I'm not asking or telling others to get the shot, as it is your choice. But, I am asking that you at least consider it as it could give you a fighting chance if you do get sick.
Stay safe, stay healthy and treat others like you want to be treated.
