Threads like these are the same reason most of us career soldiers don’t join organizations like the VFW. Heck, most of us don’t even want to frequent the VA facilities because its like Underground Los Angeles from Demolition Man.

ALWAYS some sniveling 1 termer (or less) sitting around spewing mouth diarrhea saying stuff like “my 3 years in the Marines was harder than 25 in the AirForce”.

Best one I heard was at Audie Murphy VA Hospital which ended with me putting a guy on his A-Double Dollar. He kept bothering me in a waiting room saying “I was Force recon, then went to BUDS. I did 275 combat missions then was recruited by Delta right after Ranger School”. Oh is dat right I said, how long were you in? “26 months” he said. I said, You Sir aren’t just a regular liar, you are a liar to the core and then he went for me.

The saddest Vets to me are the ones with fragile minds and get those dang snuggle dogs that just have to slobber all over anyone around with no regard to whether or not the other person wants a dog touching them or around their food. Biggest pile of Bovine Scat Scam going. “Boo-hoo, sergeant here knows when I’m gonna snap like Rambo man, he keeps me in check”.

Do I respect all Veterans, Heck no, but I earned my opinion the hard way!

The shot is an Unlawful Order as it stands. So just because you had your “Airgun Peanut Butter shot” don’t mean Jack Crap nor does it compare in similarity.

Not sure about the "killing part" but he has two or three bronze stars [emoji1626](that we have found), but dad does not discuss in detail. Killing ain't as sexy as Hollywood portrays it. It seems to be the trend from those that did their part in Korea [emoji2406] and Vietnam [emoji1264] not to say much.

My old man was in Vietnam in 68/69. He didn’t talk much about it till my brother and I were in HS. Like you said, not many details.

Buddy of mine I served with in the 90s is still in and he always said if they required the shot then he was retiring. But now he’s found out that he has to take it just to have his retirement physical! So they got you no matter what!
