Context is critical when teaching/studying scripture.

The sermon on the mount isn't as best I can tell (a treatise on how/when self defense is applicable).

It is a about god honoring righteous living.

The intention of a group such as antifa is not attacking (not sure of the context of the Portland thing) or playing the part of an oppressive government like the Roman occupation on the ME.

The issues Jesus addressed were actual Roman laws that the people had to submit to. Such as carrying a Romans load for a mile.

I have no issue dealing with persecution for the Gospel sake. I pray that I have the faith and fortitude as Paul did to rejoice in being worthy of taking stripes for the Lord.
