Going out of state to deny the Republicans a quorum on the voting reform bill. They did this in the early 2000's but I don't remember what it was over or how it turned out.
My understanding is these actions are a violation of the tx constitution & lawmakers who participate can be arrested...will be interesting to see how abbott handles.

I remember that as well. Talk radio was laughing about the articles written detailing the sacrifice of the dems.

Interesting - did they create that law after the last time the Dems skedaddled?

Doubt anybody gets arrested or severe consequences
I don't believe that Texas law has authority beyond state borders. That's what happened in 2003 when the yellow dogs ran to Oklahoma. Everyone knew where they were but couldn't go and arrest them.

Wish I could recall the details of that last go round...I sorta wanna remember that some law makers were hesitant to re-enter the state for fear of arrest for some reason??
Democrats in the Texas House of Representatives are planning to once again flee the state in a second bid to prevent the Republican majorities in the legislature to pass a controversial GOP sponsored elections bill to strengthen voting access rules.
Under Texas law, the Democratic lawmakers could face arrest by taking flight
I would really like to know how the new law would restrict voting. The only thing I see as far as restrictions is that you have to actively take part in the process such as request an absentee ballot, not have one automatically sent to your home. If you are too lazy to get up and go vote then how is it the fault of the law.
