Will casino gambling pass this time?

Here we go again. It will take a 2/3rds majority in the legislature but momentum may be going their direction. The proposal is for 4 major destination casinos around Houston, Austin, San Antonio and DFW. The arguments for/against have not changed. Keeping those gambling/tax dollars in Texas vs moral/societal risks. I’m sure the gambling interests across state lines will find ways to align with the anti crowd. Will it pass this time?
    The coalition pushing it:

This whole thing is a gamble. A big roll of the dice. Regardless of outcome, someone will get crapped on. And lobbyists and attorneys will hit the jackpot. I'm sure Abbot will have his poker face on and play the hand dealt to him by the latest opinion poll.

    I got no more puns.

    Full disclosure: I'm not ante-gambling.

I don't know when to fold them. But I'm betting the pro-casino lobby has an ace up there sleeve.

I’m ok with that. Let them have ‘em.

Exactly why the lobbyists against it are receiving money from La..

The commercial I heard said (paraphrased), "lets build casinos for the children." Hard to vote against things that are good for the children, so I bet it passes.

PS I don't care one way or the other. Adults should get to lose their money however they want.

I could see that. Everyone in my neck of the woods can jump on i49 and be in Shreveport in 30 min.

I'll bet a lot of Oklahoma $$$$ are coming in to lobby against it too. Those casinos just across the Red river get most of their bidnez from lonely Dallas widows.

I don't care either way. Not much of a gambler and my wife isn't either. Worked too hard over the years to throw it on a table are in a machine.

I think gambling in Texas should be legal. My big issue is the sites they have chosen. Houston - Austin ? Their local governments are still closed. Why not Galveston where it is more of a destination - San Antonio is good. Id rather the money and jobs stay in Texas

I’ll never go to a casino to gamble but I’m all for it if others want to partake.

Lotto is gambling so I don't see the difference.
Tax $ raised from it should stay here but the politicians will find a way to waste it.
Casinos should at least create some jobs.
