Let's stop calling it a vaccine

We don't call it a flu vaccine we call it a flu shot. Why, because it's not 100% effective in stopping or transmission. Polio, measles, and the such we have vaccines for. The 'rona shot is no more effective than the flu shot. I'm not saying don't get it if you want it. Not saying it don't work for some. Just saying it don't fit the definition of vaccine so let's stop calling it such.

First learn yourself why the flu vaccines is only 60% effective. Then come back with your comparisons. Covid shots may or may not be vaccines. I don't know, but I guess we'll see.

It isn't a flu vaccine it's a flu shot...just like the covid shot not sure why thsts so hard to get. Even the experts Dr's ect supporting the covid shot say it won't prevent you from getting it that it will lesson the symptoms of covid. Hence why it's not a vaccine. It builds antibodies to help your body fight against covid just like the flu shot.

But "vaccine" sounds so much more urgent and appealing to the masses when it's actually a unproven shot of something with unknown side affects.. Prove me wrong..

        It's absolute insanity...

They do call it the annual flu vaccine as well... The shot is how they get the vaccine in your body.

That settles it then. I'm crazy and now I know that the CDC is too. It's a SHOT not a VACCINE.
When I was a young lad, I had a mild case of polio. I was also Vaccinated against polio prior to starting school, as most everyone else was. I no longer need a polio shot every year (booster) because I have been vaccinated against it and can't catch it ever again.

Yes it a vaccine. The “shot” is just the method of transfer.

How effective it is might be open for debate but the Covid injection are to stimulate antibodies and help fight off future infections. Stimulating antibodies is the definition of a vaccine.

                            I agree with the above.

Most vaccines aren't 100% effective, so I'm not really understanding the argument some are making.

                              Authorized Use

Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine is authorized for use under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for active immunization to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in individuals 18 years of age and older. Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine is investigational and not approved by FDA.

                              IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

Do not administer the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine to individuals with a known history of severe allergic reaction (e.g., anaphylaxis) to any component of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine.
Appropriate medical treatment to manage immediate allergic reactions must be immediately available in the event an acute anaphylactic reaction occurs following administration of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine. Monitor Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine recipients for the occurrence of immediate adverse reactions according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/).
Immunocompromised persons, including individuals receiving immunosuppressive therapy, may have a diminished response to the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine.
The Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine may not protect all vaccine recipients.
Adverse reactions reported in a clinical trial following administration of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine include pain at the injection site, fatigue, headache, myalgia, arthralgia, chills, nausea/vomiting, axillary swelling/tenderness, fever, swelling at the injection site, and erythema at the injection site. Additional adverse reactions, some of which may be serious, may become apparent with more widespread use of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine.
Available data on Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine administered to pregnant women are insufficient to inform vaccine-associated risks in pregnancy. Data are not available to assess the effects of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine on the breastfed infant or on milk production/excretion.
There are no data available on the interchangeability of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine with other COVID-19 vaccines to complete the vaccination series. Individuals who have received one dose of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine should receive a second dose of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine to complete the vaccination series.
Additional adverse reactions, some of which may be serious, may become apparent with more widespread use of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine.
Vaccination providers must complete and submit reports to VAERS online at https://vaers.hhs.gov/reportevent.html. For further assistance with reporting to VAERS, call 1-800-822-7967. The reports should include the words "Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine EUA" in the description section of the report.

Ill pass on any investigational vaccines for now.
