LA school board cuts police officers from schools, diverts $25M to support Black students

How about fund your own future.
So much stupidity there.
Of all the places you might remove police, South Central ain't it.
You have no discipline in the schools, the hoodrats run the show, and you're going to leave it up to them to police themselves.

Though I have been removed for more than 20 years it is still the same.
I had a decade of experience with one of the agencies.
The school board is a mirror of the voters the student body is not.
Anyone not in Hollywood with money send their children to private schools.
Hollywood high is a desired school. so are a couple of the magnate schools.
Student body is about 73% Hispanic 9% black you can figure percentages of white and asian from there with most of them being in Hollywood or Magnate schools.
I knew some officers assigned to school duty and they are not disciplinarians, they clean up after so patrol units still have to be called.
I was there when crack was the main problem, I think everyone in the south bureau had no problem buying drugs only time there was an issue is when so called drug markets were set up on the streets for white buyers from out of the area.
Schools could get by with a single officer who should be checking that systems are in place to keep non-students and weapons out and a first responder to any violence, he/she is going to need backup anyway.
To me it is stupid but the school board is truly elected by the voters/tax payers of the city and mirrors the voters within the city. It is no way mirrors the student body. So if the voters/tax payers do not like this they can change the school board in teh next election/Last edited by PlanoDano; 02-21-2021, 04:17 AM.

Born and raised in West Texas,
Got out of the service there in there in 81
Brother advised Texas was not a good place to be job shopping in 1981 so what was going to be a couple of years working in CA turned into 12.
Fishing was outstanding, Chukar were good.
State was split pretty evenly politically at the time it would alternate between conservative and liberal governors. One democratic senator and one republican senator.Liberals were a bit more liberal and conservatives were more fiscally conservative than here in Texas. Calfornia's main negative is that it is just too crowded.

Nah, Rubi you Trump guys are the true liberals
No administration has borrowed more with no intention of paying it back.
Maybe, if we had seen his personal tax returns we would have known his tendencies.
Kick me too I voted for him once.
Biden is not impressing me with his fiscal restraint either but at least so far he seems to be trying to be a president for all Americans. There was no delay in getting Texas storm damage declared a major disaster.
I was never exposed to TV opinion because we just did not have the reception.
Instead my formative years were spent listening to my great uncles argue politics during their bi-weekly 42 games.
Bi-weekly 42 with extended family is a West Texas thing, kind of like neighborliness and respect for others.

Actually bi- weekly 42 isn’t just a west texas thing, it was common in East Texas, at least for my family as was respect. We did frown on bulls$$t though!
The idea that conservatism solely revolves around fiscal issues is false and quite honestly the least of concerns for a lot of conservative people. Your insinuation that Trump didn’t represent everyone is just rubbish too. He did more for minorities than any of the presidents pre dating him 50 years. Biden is too busy hunting “White supremacists” right now to satisfy his base so he hasn’t had time to show how truly racist he is, so your idea that Biden is somehow a great uniting being is completely false too.

I would respectfully disagree with you here on the importance of fiscal conservatism to the overall health of our union. The tea party had it right in many ways. You can give the illusion of prosperity by increasing your debt load but this is not good if you have to suffer poverty when the debt comes due. This was one of my problems with the California lifestyle, a lot of it was illusion financed by debt. You could borrow up to 110% of the appraised value of a home so this constant cycle of refinance artificially inflated housing process.
