I just read the first couple posts in the stimulus package thread and it reminded me of the letter I received this weekend. This year the IRS took forever to get me my return and as a result decided to pay me interest based on how long it took. Anyway, this past weekend I received a letter declaring that interest as income and that I would need to pay taxes on it. Overall it would probably be a couple of bucks but just goes to show how ****ty they are, but when you gotta pay for Racist Joe's plans I guess every nickel counts to them.

Its kind of like the USDA FSA. They give farmers and ranchers stimulus money and other benefits, but then tax you for it. Why not just give a lower amount and be tax free.

More of the Dems entitlement culture. If they had their way they would send money to the caravan people just in case they got in they would be grateful to the dems and vote their way. 11 million illegal immigrants will soon be citizens and that gives the Dems 11M votes they won't have to pull out of the machines after polls close while nobody is looking.

that's the secret right there. they spend stupid amounts of money on crap overseas and for decades we've just complained about it and gone about our day. but think about it? who tf is doing gender studies projects in pakistan, for real? turns out it's companies owned by friends and family of our elected officials. so they pass legislation giving stupid money to other countries, who then turn around and hire american companies to do the crap they want.

how else does someone end up a millionaire when they're officially making $170k per year while maintaining 2 households and traveling across country half the time?

Because how would you keep the IRS employed if you made it that simple???

Not to mention, all the tax prep companies out there. You know they lobby hard to keep taxes as complicated as possible. Like when H&R Block lobbied hard for Obamacare. They knew ACA would make taxes even more complicated.

I have seen a commercial 5 times today talking about a new universal income plan that will garuntee every person $1,000 /month. Becouse its not fair that "we" built this country, and are struggling, while wall street makes billions daily off our hardwork. Scary stuff.

Where y’all been ? It’s been this way for years whether it’s Repubs or Dems in power. The whole **** bunch is to blame and they’ve been selling the working man down the river for most of my life. We sent corporate filings last year. They stuck all mail in some bin since they were locked down...then sent late notices and notice of levies out because they didnt check their mail.

They cause much time to be wasted. The IRS needs to be able to billed for man hours for having to play grabass with them to resolve their internal issues.

The same thing happened to me recently. I was wonder why I got that interest letter from the IRS but your post helped me remember my refund took a long time and was for more than expected. Makes no sense.
