I’m seeing that parler has been hacked and all info is being posted in a public database. Including deleted info that parler never actually deleted, metadata from photos and videos, drivers licenses from verified users, etc. You boys on there probably should watch your backs for a while. Maybe get some identity theft protection.

They don't really own the Samsung version of Android. In fact I bet samsung has a end around by now and Samsung's add on to the baseline software is the largest part.

Most if not all Android apps use the Google version and are offered on PlayStore

Yes but google can't really shut down an app like Apple can because their software is an open platform. You just load it somewhere else. It isn't as convenient but you can still load apps.

Reports are that it crashed shortly after Trump made an account. I'm sure techs are scrambling trying to fix it. Google and Apple have threatened to remove Parler from their app store within 24hrs if they won't censor like Twitter. You can go around that by using duckduckgo and using Parler's web version. I wouldn't doubt if they suffer attacks by hackers though. I'm on the web version on my phone now and it has gone in and out. Tens of thousands of new users in a short time frame will do that.
With all the talk about Apple/Google/et al putting pressure on these independent platforms, I have yet to hear any talk about the violation of antitrust laws. I’m no expert but, from what I remember of my HS civics and economics classes, I would think a case could be made that the Big 3 (or 4) have successfully managed to control the marketplace (I.e., to the point that they dictate market forces), precluded entry by smaller, independent platforms, and have limited choices for consumers.

I’m a fairly simple-minded person. Surely greater minds than mine have already considered this?

Pretty sure this it what led to the busting up of Ma Bell back in the day.

Can't imagine it wouldn't apply to the big 3 technocrats.

Yep, anti-trust and racketeering has been all over the news I heard this morning while driving in to work on KTRH's morning show...

Parler just sued Amazon. Asking courts for immediate reinstatement of their platform. If this goes anything like the blatant election fraud, judges will drag their feet, punt, or deny immediately.

Well my samsung flip phone (2010 model) says it will continue to be supported (3g) until 2022. So I'm good 'til them. Maybe this will be worked out by then.

Hope you guys didn’t give your personal info to Parler

70TB of Parler users’ messages, videos, and posts leaked by security researchers

It is. The Justice Department filed lawsuit against them last year that I believe is still pending.

If Trump stays in office (which I believe he will) the Treasury Department will be seizing the big tech companies under his election interference EO.

                              Ok.
                              Great.
You just weakened the anti trust case.
Google didn't want parler in playstore so the option is to take it to another Droid based store.
But then if Samsung doesn't want to deal with the parler fallout...

How many Cell phone companies are there?
                                3 or 4 majors

Google Amazon and Apple each operate in different spaces.
Google is mainly a search engine that dabbles in other things
Amazon is an online retailer that dabbles in other things
Apple is a computer and phone manufacturer that dabbles in other things.

Some time they things intersect such as phone hardware (Google and Apple)
Or cloud based computing services (Amazon and Google)

                                But there are other options
For search engines you can use Bing or DDG
Phone hardware you can use a dozen others besides iPhone or Pixel.
Phone op system, you don't have to use a smart phone, get a obamaflipphone to escape the big 3 (windows phone is a distant 3rd)
