    Ranked Choice Voting

How do y'all feel about going to this type of voting as opposed to our current first past the post (FPTP) system? I know Maine is already using it.

I think it would have several benefits:
-Makes run-offs obsolete (saves taxpayers money)
-makes third parties viable as those votes are no longer wasted
-Avoids heartburn in places like Georgia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, aand arizona where the margin between the top two candidates could easily have flipped by distributing the third party votes.

I have never heard of it, so I did a quick search. I agree this could have several benefits, to include those you listed. But there would still be cheating like we are seeing today. There has to be a better way all around.

Not an attack on you at all.
You aren't as smart as our founding fathers and our political system requires a moral and just society, without it we won't survive.
A republic if you can keep it.

Not sure what my comparative intelligence, justice, or morality have to do with ranked choice voting?

Example: I rank my presidential votes like so:

            Jorgensen #1
            Trump #2
            Biden #3

If no one gets 50% or more in my state, and Jorgensen has the fewest votes, then my vote now goes to Trump. If I put my number 2 as Biden then it would have gone to Biden.

I can see this being handy for primaries. Don't see the point in a general election.

Never heard of it either...why would soros support??

In ss’s example most all of J votes would go to trump...bush 1 would have gotten a 2nd term.

I like the idea of wiping out the irrelevant 3rd party & keeping the winner close to 50%...could actually make for a viable 3rd party & gotta back up. Thinking out loud

I'll use Georgia as an example:

both Trump and Biden currently have about 49.4% of the vote, separated by a few thousand, with Jorgensen ~1.2%. If the vote had been ranked choice, since neither has 50%, Jorgensen's vote's would have been be split between the two. Given that Jorgensen is a libertarian, and closer aligned to the R's than D's, I'd wager the vast majority of those votes would have gone to Trump and he'd have a steady lead.

Both Senate seats from Georgia also would have avoided the run-offs they're headed towards now and at least one would for sure be an R.
