    My 16 year old and civil war

    My 16 year old son, who wants to join the military, is asking me a lot of questions about the civil war he's convinced is coming.

    I'm not "convinced," but I'd give us a better than 50% chance of some crazy guerilla type stuff in the next few months.

    I struggle with what's the best way to guide the young men, especially mine.

      After everything is counted, take a deep breath, count to 10, and figure out the next step.

      Trump is going to win. Keep your head up, and remain stoic.

        I have to admit this was my first thought. Honestly. Pray, prepare and pray some more. I’m a patrol deputy and I see a lot more fear from people regarding where we are heading. This is what I have been doing and how I’m guiding my family. It’s what I say to people who ask about our future. Pray and don’t loose faith but prepare at the same time. Focus. Pray. Prepare. And pray not just for yourself but be selfless and pray for the folks that really need that prayer.

          Spiritually yes. But too many are so heavenly minded they are no earthly good. You may not be of the world but you are in it. You are either help or hindrance.

            Homegrown terrorism is real and no better than the ones in the sand dunes. I just hope whomever sits in the oval office smashes them immediately![emoji109]

              I remember thinking about this not that long ago. Ended up not doing ROTC because they were out of funds and I would be paying the school and govt to train. I love my country but ain't paying the govt. Later, Benghazi happened. If I would have ever, ever, ever, been remotely involved in that Charlie foxtrot, i honestly dont think i would be able to live with myself. It's a serious thing to consider.

              Otherwise, be rooted in the word, be prepared for anything, know what's right, do what is right, even if difficult. We need good men in the service. Beyond that, be kind to all and capable.

                Rudyard Kipling said it about as well as anybody.

                IF

                If you can keep your head when all about you
                Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
                If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
                But make allowance for their doubting too;
                If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
                Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
                Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
                And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

                If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
                If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
                If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
                And treat those two impostors just the same;
                If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
                Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
                Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
                And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

                If you can make one heap of all your winnings
                And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
                And lose, and start again at your beginnings
                And never breathe a word about your loss;
                If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
                To serve your turn long after they are gone,
                And so hold on when there is nothing in you
                Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

                If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
                Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
                If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
                If all men count with you, but none too much;
                If you can fill the unforgiving minute
                With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
                Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
                And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

                    Good luck on that.. Trump hasn't smashed them, although he certainly should have, and Biden and his crew not only supports them but funds them... So now what?

                        Exactly!
                        We the People are the only thing that is going to change anything.
                        Now is a time for ruthlessness, and leaving your conscious at home.
                        Heads on stakes, and traitors hanging from light poles seems about right.
                        Take some lessons from the MS-13 playbook, and set a precedent.

                          What are you, trying to establish a muslim califate based on sharia law?
                          No thanks!!

                            I'm not sure, but don't think so...
                            Just seems like hugging and making up, isn't enough punishment for traitors to this country and the constitution.
                            Maybe it is, but I don't think that's how our fore fathers got it done .

                              There is no way in hell I would advise my son to join the military nowadays, ESPECIALLY with the notion of Biden or Harris being Commander in Chief.
