Mail in voting AND in Person

I voted this morning. Walking in with me was an elderly lady with her mail in ballot and she asked where to take it to drop it off. I went and checked in and go over to my machine to vote. As I finish up, I notice the lady is now voting at a booth.

I don't know exactly what happened- she could have not filled out her drop off ballot and was then voting in person. She could have voted twice. But it did get me thinking, what happens or what is supposed to happen if you request a mail in ballot/drop off ballot AND then also vote in person? At what point is this flagged? What are the consequences? Is one vote disqualified? Are both disqualified?

When you show up to vote it will show if you received a ballot. They will not let you vote if you do not have the mail in to hand over.

Its like a trade in....You can drive to the correct mail in drop location OR you turn in your mail in ballot and vote on the machine. They actually did it right...or so it sounds they did.

I'm positive that if you go to the "right person" setting at the table and know the correct "code word" that you will be able to vote without the mail in ballot, even if you have mailed it in... These voting centers are as about as low tech as it can get and the people working there are just volunteers.. Nothing highly secure about them..

Thanks for the feedback- this makes sense.

Could be. Today I was actually surprised how they questioned me to prove I was who my ID said I was. I don't recall that in the past. We recently moved so it kind of threw me for a loop.

How can they even ID people when they’re all wearing masks?
The lady who took my ID never even looked at me or my face. It was a bit unnerving.

Ha. I asked them the same question. I could go steal so ID's and go in and vote on behalf of several other registered voters...If I was a crook.

I did have to sign the screen with a stylus...so at least they COULD compare signatures.

Funny thing, when I was leaving to turn in my ballot, i pulled my masked off one ear because it was just hard to breath through the silly thing. The lady steps back about 20 ft and says to me "it is a requirement to wear your mask". i said no, it is recommended to wear a mask. I needed to breath and I am leaving anyway.
I slipped it back on so she wouldn't panic, then she proceeded to try and hand me a sticker.
I said "no thanks" you could be infected.

                Irony!

She could have been dropping off her husband's ballot.

That's not legal. If you bring in your mail in ballot, you have to produce ID just as if you were there to vote... (prevents, or it's supposed to prevent ballot harvesting).
