    Paypal

So, it's hunting season and I have been buying a few things online to prepare. I get an email from Paypal stating "significant changes" have been noticed on my account and are requesting a copy of my photo ID and receipts from recent purchases. Until I comply, my account is frozen.

Are they monitoring what people buy, now? And especially if it's related to hunting? They won't even let me close my account without complying to their request. HMMMMM!!!

    Anyone else?

    That’s probably not from PayPal.

You can close account. They sent me similar. I called my financial institution and declined future payment to them and PayPal can do as they want. They will not get funding from me.

I use mine all the time. No issues. I buy ammo, archery supplies, even targets.
Perhaps there is more to your story?

Sounds like a fishing scam to me.

Call them-I got a similar sounding text from Chase Bank recently and it was defiantly a scam attempt

                Scam.

Just log onto PP and check your account directly. I bet it's fine.

Yeah. The IRS called me last week and left a voicemail in broken English saying that I needed to send money before they took action against me. I had $10k laying around so I sent a check to Switzerland. I never even knew the IRS was located there.

But I checked my paypal account and it seems fine. Probably a scam, but what do I know?

It's a scam, I get emails about my Wells Fargo bank account and Discover card. I have never had either one. There are some really legit looking scams out there. I recently changed a bunch of passwords after someone tried to transfer my bank reward points to an outside account. I use a random password generator now. It is an app that stays on my phone and laptop.

I was on the beach at Port A a couple weeks ago and i got an email in spanish that a credit card had been added to my pay pal account. I though that's B S and it's in spanish so it's a scam. Well a minute later I get another email in spanish that an instant withdraw was made to that newly added credit card for $600. Someone had my password and changed my language to spanish and added their own card and cleaned me out. Well I try to contact PP by phone and that's impossible to get a human so i start the fraud claim online. They automatically deny me saying they didn't see any fraud. After a week or so of back and forth they reopen the fraud case and find it to be a legit scam. I got my $600 back after a couple weeks. Closed my account shortly after that.

These guys are getting very sophisticated at all scams
My boss took a hit a couple weeks ago. Somehow these guys masked his email address and started sending emails to our hr prior to the next payroll run telling them that he had changed banks and needed them to update his deposit info
The emails has his signature details and the “from” was masked to look legit like it was being sent from our internal email system. HR made the changes and bam next payroll check was direct deposited in another account.
