The Justice Department's Civil Rights Division said in 2017 that it would probe and sue universities over affirmative action policies.
Today the DOJ sued Yale for discriminating against Asian-American and white undergraduate applicants.
I've never been an end-justifies-the-means type and it has always bothered me that a solution to race-based discrimination is race-based discrimination (affirmative action).

“Because Yale claims that its race discrimination is necessary to admit sufficient numbers of racially-favored applicants, mostly Black and Hispanic applicants, Yale signals that racially-favored applicants cannot compete against Asian and White applicants,” the lawsuit said. “This kind of race discrimination relies upon and reinforces damaging race-based stereotypes.”
