    The Case for Trump

Victor Davis Hanson’s book is a phenomenal read. It paints a clear and reasonable picture of how and why Trump and puts into reasoned words what I can’t seem to get out of conversations with like-minded friends, family and the TBH community. I’m only half way through it and it is a solid, out of the park home run.

Interesting. I know we discussed what you like about trump the other day and I couldn’t refute much,if any.

Has this book changed your mind on anything You don’t/didn’t like about him. ??

So far it's helped me to understand the background of the backlash that elected him better. Being somewhat of a political outsider that doesn't take in cable news I didn't have the clear picture he paints of that.
Have yet to get to the issues or character flaws that I'm curious about. The whole package might be the necessary antidote to the swamp-- I just haven't been able to wrap my head around that totally.

“The press takes him literally but not seriously while his supporters take him seriously but not literally.”
        A pretty good summation.

Because I don’t follow the political cable news I’ve missed out on most of the encounters with liberal politicians and talking heads. I definitely have antiestablishment tendencies and as most of y’all know, am an irreverent smart ***.
It’s pretty funny stuff and surprising how simple and effective it is.

            That’s a very good summary.

Regarding the “character flaws” , I have come to the conclusion that to rise to that level of success whether in business or politics requires a level of egotism that borders on maniacal. Every CEO I have worked for has had his eye on #1, or his own self interest. I think they have all traded their principles for advancement. That sort of ambition does not come cheap, it comes at great personal cost. What do I mean by all this... I don’t think Trump is more flawed than any other career politician or successful businessman. I think he is purposely less polished about hiding it and I think that is intentional. I think it is part of his no bs persona. I think he literally meant “grab Em by the pu$$y”.... but I think most high level politicians have that mindset, they just have been coached to never say that out loud. At least with Trump, you get to know the devil you are dealing with

The chemotherapy metaphor is also interesting. Nasty but necessary to cure the cancer.

Trump has his flaws for sure. I wouldn't want him as king but as it is the Republican Senate keeps him from implementing his dumber ideas. Unfortunately the democratic house keeps him from implementing many of his good ideas.

Your observation on CEO's is spot on. I think that is why Rex Tillerson was out so quickly. Two former CEO's use to immediately getting what they want don't play well on the same team.

And I appreciate and cannot refute much, if anything, in your response to my question.

I really like Victor as well.

It's funny because the very character flaws / traits are what turned me off to Trump in 2016 & my vote was most certainly against the witch vs pro trump...now that I've had 4 years watching his actions & working up the msm, I've come to appreciate how he uses these imperfections to his advantage. I'm sure a lot of folks just simply can't get past his approach, but a non-political tiger ain't gonna change their stripes for anyone.

It helps to be able to see both sides & really can't imagine any better suited person for the job for where we are as a country in this moment. We are SOOO lucky he won...can you imagine the witch with 3 scotus appointments with the chance of 2 more. Trump with his picks have done more to help our future than any other action.

I didn’t need much knowledge of what he was going to do or how he was going to do it to vote for him instead of Hillary in 2016.
The more I read the more I appreciate what he’s done and see the importance and depth of what his presidency means.
I don’t think that would have happened if I hadn’t had the inclination to read books with themes that run counter to what I already thought.

I commend you for taking the time and making the effort to educate yourself and to get an insight on Trump.
