Anyone else’s school district playing politics?

Humble ISD was going back on August 11th , in person or remote depending on parent preference. Then slowly one by one Houston area school districts began backing off, stating that they would wait until after Labor Day. Then the County Judge declared all Harris County schools to be remote until after Labor Day. Then Ken Paxton declared our county judge’s declaration to be undeclarable. Now Humble ISD Superintendent has declared that the declaration made by Paxton, which undeclared what judge Lina declared, is the superseding declaration and shall therefore be the one that Humble ISD follows.

And with that, teachers are to report to school on Monday. School starts August 11th.

    For now...

If they don’t start in time.....they are playing politics.
Every study, and even the CDC says open schools for in person learning

So Humble ISD is sticking with their original plan? Doesn't sound like politics to me. Make no mistake, these school districts are in a No-Win situation. If they go back, half the people are gonna be ticked. If they don't go back, the other half is gonna be ticked. If they go back and a few kids get sick, then folks will say they went back too soon. If an old teacher with 80 extra pounds and kankles gets sick and dies then they'll be blamed for going back at all. They're in a tough spot and just trying to do the best they can and what they feel is best for the kids while trying to balance the opinions of a bunch of parents who have nothing but opinions.

It’s a simple solution, if you want your kids in school then send them, if not then go virtual
It’s just like wearing a mask, you make a personal decision and live with it.
Teachers need to report, if they have high risk teachers then You figure out how to manage them.

Maybe firefighters and police officers and HEB workers can all start working virtually. I know I’d love to answer 911 calls at home

All true. I’m on our local school board, we’re starting in person or virtual 8/19, parent’s choice.

Thank you for what you do. I served 7 years and it's the most thankless job I've ever had.

Thanks. I was a HS principal for 19 years, it was equally as thankless but it was at least compensated thanklessness

Most teachers will not be working from home despite whether a kid chooses online or in-class instruction. All teachers and staff have to report to school everyday at my school.

Well, you're just a glutton for punishment.
