CDC - New guidelines for schools

These will go over really well

Yes, everyone knows there's not enough space to do this. Maybe they should raise taxes. After all "it's for the children".

The details come as K-12 schools across the country, many of which have gone to online learning amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, wrap up classes for the year.

"Inside the classroom, the CDC says desks should be spaced 6-feet apart if possible and tables should all face in the same direction with students only sitting on one side, not face-to-face. Students should also not share items.

Playground equipment should be closed if possible or use should be staggered and the equipment cleaned and disinfected in between uses.

Students are encouraged to bring their own lunches and eat in classrooms instead of the cafeteria. Food that is provided by the school should be pre-packaged in boxes or bags. Buffet-style is discouraged."

The CDC goons that thought these guidelines up should be left to run an elementary school under those restrictions. Bet they're calling for the reinstatement of corporal punishment before the end of the first week.

Thankfully, these are just guidelines with the catch phrases "if possible" and "where feasible" because we all know the schools and buses are over crowded and none of that is feasible or possible.

This is the biggest crock of crap I’ve seen to date. “Playgrounds should be closed” even though the CDC just changed their website about what surfaces the virus can live on which way less than what was originally stated. That’s just one example.

          Pure stupidity.

Nah. They will just say these kids are unteachable without aderall. Or it's their parents fault, and they need to be taken away from them so they can get the proper government education.

Students must all face the same direction cause the Corona can’t move left or right.

It’s ultimately up to TEA as a teacher/ varsity coach I wish they would make a decision because there are several scenarios at the moment.
                  1-normal school year
2- an extended school yeah with scheduled breaks every so many weeks especially around winter
                  3. Normal school year but weeks broken into A and B days where based on you school population 1/2 of the student come one day and the other 1/2 the next. You still use all the classrooms and teachers which allow the school to cut class sizes in half
                  4. Start the school year at home and continue the online learning

                  Honestly it’s a mess !

No kidding! Not only the recent deal on surfaces, but the reports of UV being effective in fighting it.

Then there is this, which contradicts most of the re-opening guidelines... Government at its finest.

We really don't know what next year will look like yet. Sit tight and let's see how things play out. I really do not like some of the options being discussed and next year may suck for us.

I think no matter what public education has just changed permanently. And some for the good. We will see tons more integration of technology and distance learning going forward.

I really expect to see some type of an alternating schedule in many districts where kids are broken into A days and B days. A comes M,W,F, M,W, M,W,F, etc B comes T,TH, T, TH, F, T,TH... etc. Then have them take courses like speech, gov't, eco, etc, etc online and classes like welding, cosmetology, etc that require hands on instruction at school. I also expect an online portion for every single class from day 1 so that if we have some sort of upswing in Covid19 we can stay home and roll straight into full online instruction.

Some districts have already said they will do everything possible to keep the regular school schedule and keep the calendars for next year that were already developed and approved. And that even if more time is required to be added to make up for lost time this year they will just add on 30 min a day to the school day, or whatever, to fulfill the requirement.
