Great video by Dan Crenshaw Debunking the Left's Coronavirus Narriative. They don't want you to hear the Truth!

He is an up-and-comer for sure. I really enjoy his podcasts. I like his calm, principled and reasoned approach. We already have enough loudmouth rhetorical bomb-throwers on the right. I think he might actually change some minds.

I’m cautious about him. He has expressed support for red flag laws.

I’m glad he has the courage to have those expressions

Not again. I still can’t fathom how anyone would be ok with circumventing due process while violating many civil rights in the process.

Back in August when Trump showed support for red flag laws, Crenshaw stated that 2nd Amendment supporters should start a conversation about it, and would only consider them if they were very limited and they could come up with an ironclad way to prevent abuse and circumvention of due process. Of course he got gang-tackled by the twitter mob, and as is typical they had no interest in hearing his more detailed thoughts on the matter. As soon as they heard the words red flag they stuck fingers in their ears and labeled him a gun grabbing RINO. (Which is ridiculous IMO). If you hear his explanation and are still against it that’s fine but I think it should be done after you hear what he has to say. He addresses the potential for abuse

If someone is truly mentally unstable and a danger to themselves or the public, then have them committed. There is already a process in place for exactly that. Red flag laws have to do with guns, not safety.

He royally screwed himself and lost a lot of support with the Red Flag stuff. Seems like he unfortunately misspoke in exactly what he was suggesting and that’s all it took for a major downhill turn.

Have seen him clarifying what he meant on later events but in today’s world the initial screw up spreads instantly and the later clarification/explanation spreads like molasses...

Yeah, that is one of the problems. Mostly thanks to the ACLU it is almost impossible to get someone committed - the bar is very high.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
“Well regulated” and “shall not be infringed” are not mutually exclusive.

I like Crenshaw. I like the idea of red flag laws. I have yet to hear a proposal for red flag laws I like. Doesn’t mean they can’t/don’t exist.

Crenshaw is one of the brighter, more reasonable conservatives out there today. We can’t eat our own because they have a few differing opinions on things that even conservatives on this forum have differences of opinions on.

The bar SHOULD be high when talking about denying due process and taking of ones rights.

Well said Jason. I also like the idea of laws that would help get guns out of the hands of dangerous people but I also have not seen a red flag law I am comfortable with. Problem is, it’s such a volatile topic nobody wants to even hear ideas on how it MIGHT be done constitutionally and with protection against abuse. I don’t know if that is possible but conservatives should be able to discuss it without being banished.
