I'd assume he means "we" as a group or society have made the things in your list illegal and we punish people who break those laws. We all spend tons of money and time fighting against those things.

But abortion is legal...So we sit back and do very little.

I don't have any answers.

Yes that is what I meant.
It's a truly disturbing and helpless feeling to know that because of OUR own laws and politics that 100's of innocent babies are being murdered everyday in this country as we go on about our everyday lives. Yet we have sent in armies and spent billions and and have killed many "bad people" to stop genocide in other countries yet we allow this in our own... It makes NO sense!!
