Donald Trump gets thrown in briar patch re:VET Donations

Sounds like he is loving it in there so far.

He announced 22 groups that have received $5.6 million. AMVET in Birmingham is one so I guess it will be asked by BHAM newspaper or AL.com to confirm they did.

The point is that Trump lied about how much he gave us. He would steal a dime off of a dead man's eye........

I haven't seen any evidence that he lied. If anything, when he first said he had raised $6M, you could argue he should have said he had raised $6M in pledged contributions.

It is also interesting that the media has spent more time on this than they have investigating all the questions around the Clinton Foundation.

The way he handled a fundraiser that was back in January is poor at best for someone that touts himself as businessman and/or someone that HIRES only the best people. Guess that person was not around in January, February, March, April, and thru all of May??? Best I can say is that the monies have reportedly been distributed.

More than two months after Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump claimed to have raised $6 million for veterans' charities at a fundraiser held on the eve of the Iowa caucuses, most of the organizations targeted to receive the money have gotten less than half of that amount.

Donald Trump drew much fanfare when he skipped a Republican debate in January to host a rally that he has said raised millions of dollars for veterans, but one question has lingered since the event: Where’s the money?

              From the Fox link:

“Additionally, we are continuing to distribute the money raised as it comes in and we are expanding the list of groups receiving contributions,” she said in a statement. “If the media spent half as much time highlighting the work of these groups and how our Veterans have been so mistreated, rather than trying to disparage Mr. Trump’s generosity for a totally unsolicited gesture for which he had no obligation, we would all be better for it. He has raised millions of dollars for the Vets, and rather than being thanked, he is attacked. As Mr. Trump said, ‘No good deed goes unpunished.’”

WHAT? Someone taking advantage of Veterans you say? No, I don't believe it, not a chance, especially from a liberal New Yorker Yankee. Come on now, be realistic, that just wouldn't happen.

The operative word in these reports is "reportedly". If I am not mistaken, all the money was deposited into the Trump Foundation which is a charitable organization that distributes funds to various charities.

I'm no big Trump fan but if the intent was to somehow profit from this personally, he never would have deposited the money to his foundation.

The groups got a bunch of cash. Probably not as quickly as some of our establishment guys would have liked. At least it was not embezzled trough admin cost. A win for the groups that received the funding. And the way Trump handled the establishments media was a thing of beauty.

It certainly was. The way he dragged out getting to the list was great.

He just called an ABC reporter a sleaze to his face. Another reporter asked him if this is the way it was going to be in interviews when he was president. He said you're darn right....
