It solves the problem but opens up so many more. I used to be a CBP agent we don't need a wall we just need to go back to enforcing laws which right now and for many years will get you fired. We have a national guard force, 45 thousand CBP officers and agents, thousands of state and local law enforcement and 20 thousand ICE agents and officers.

We don't need a wall and we do not need to hire any more federal agents.
Can we get a BIG OL' AMEN?!!!
I've been leasing land along the Rio Grande for over 30 years and I have a lot of experience on what happens there.

In the talk about the wall, fence, or whatever the pundits of it want to call it, they always say it must be built and "resources" dedicated to "enforcing" it... Well it is true that if you build a wall and don't "enforce" it with a guard to keep folks from climbing it, tunneling under it, or in the case of a fence, cutting it, it won't do a bit of good. If you are going to have people guarding the wall anyway, you DON'T NEED THE DANG WALL!! The perfect example I can give you that enforcement works is in the Del Rio Sector along the Rio Grande where several years ago, all the various agencies who have jurisdiction in the area got together and with funding from the Feds, created a "zero tolerance zone" along that section of the river. Our ranch is in this zone... prior to the establishment of the zone, Val Verde County built a new jail to house them, and the Feds. added all kind of resources to enhance the surveillance of the area, and it was policy that EVERYONE apprehended crossing the river in this zone went to jail, not escorted back to the river crossing in town. Full background checks were done on them and they were prosecuted for everything the law dogs could find on every single person. Weren't too long before the word got out across the river they needed to go somewhere else and try to cross because the dudes in the Del Rio Sector was puttin' people in the slammer for a long time... Crossings went from thousands a week to a few a month... It remained that way until funding ran out on the project... IF WE ENFORCE OUR BORDERS, WE CAN STOP THE ILLEGAL CROSSINGS and WE DON'T NEED A WALL TO DO IT!

Charlie there is no way you can put enough men along the border 24/7/365 to enforce it effectively. There has to be a hard barrier put in place at least on a large portion of it.

Nice radio ad endorsement of Cruz by current TX Governor Greg Abbott, current TX Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, and former TX Governor Rick Perry.

My brother just transferred to Comstock/Del Rio sector from Arizona. He agrees with what you said. Let them enforce the border laws in place. He says we he first became an agent in Arizona the illegals would run. Now he says they just wait on the side of the road for a ride into town.

Mike, it worked very well in that sector, and it's right across the river from Acuna... Before they started the zero tolerance program, we'd see "wets" regularly, and camps/stands were broken into regularly. After the program, began, we didn't see a single illegal in over a 5-6 year period. All the piles of clothes/bottles/jugs and general mess they'd leave along the river went away. Yes sir Mike it can work. Heck, before they started the program, the rancher put a brand new fence along the river for his cattle. It ran for miles n miles... After it had been there for a few months, the foreman and a crew were riding fence, and when they got to the river pasture, the WHOLE DANG FENCE WAS GONE!! Posts n all!!! They stole the whole fence!!! Now that has all pretty much stopped.

Funding has been cut on that program now, and the DemoKrauts have cut the surveillance resources and moved them to housing and feedin' all the widows n orphans... Won't be long until it will be right back like it was... AND if you built a wall and pulled the surveillance away from it, the same thing would happen... the wall might as well not be there. We have an excellent relationship with the BP in the area, and they have some really cool "toys" they've showed us from time to time... They've got night vision stuff and flir equipment that will blow you away! Horsesmen and dogs prove most effective though most of the time in actually catchin' 'em when they cross, but they've got cool drones, choppers, planes, air boats and all kinds of toys! Don't need no stinkin' wall.

This might mean we build a wall and hire a bunch more border agents. It might also mean we change the number of legal immigrants we allow each year (up or down, by place of origin). It should include strategies to track those here on visas. It needs to include some prioritization; for example, I think securing the border should be the highest priority followed by visa tracking and deporting criminals. There are other issues such as employers who hire illegals and what to do with them. Of course we need a plan to deal with all illegals here, even those who are otherwise law-abiding.

I am not suggesting capitulation but I strongly believe that we need new legislation that addresses these issues or we will never get off of dead center. The new president could say that he wants to secure the border but if congress doesn't provide the funding it will go nowhere.
and this right here is more than anything a majority of candidates have stated they will do in this race.

People forget we have had a border with Mexico for well over 150 yrs but it's only been relatively recent that it's become a problem. We don't need a wall.

theyll continue to come for the anchor baby. fining and jailing the ones hiring the illegals will go a long way along with deportations.

Cruz and Rubio have specifically stated these goals. Trump has implied them but as usual he is never very specific.
