    Great News

One general officer for every 1400 soldiers? Talk about waste--I like Hegseth more each time he hits the news.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Monday that the U.S. military will soon be seeing a dramatic reduction in the number of general officers across all branches.

    Thank God !

Let me explain how this means peace for the peacetime enlisted soldier.

When the military is top heavy with these green stupid officers with their mail order degrees the poor enlisted man suffers because each and every one of these idiot officers sit and think up projects and programs for bullet statements in their OPR’s for promotion.

The idiocy these idiots come up with is astounding.

I can't remember the numbers but he pointed out how many 4 star generals we had in WW2 vs today and it was mind boggling how many we have now. Stars are like participation trophies now.

The U.S. military—the Army, in particular—has ceded to the liberal culture and become little more than a Petrie dish for social experimentation in human resource management. It’s no wonder our general officer corps is fat and bloated.

I am generally not in favor of cutting spending on our military—in fact, the Trump Admin recently announced an increase in military spending, just last week—but the per capita disparity practically proves the statements made by the OP and is yet another example of government waste.

I fully support increased spending on “boots-on-the-ground” personnel, training and readiness, and research & development of new technology. This, along with a generous but well-managed budget, will continue to ensure the U.S. remains the world’s super-power and ensure the “Peace through Stength” continues to work. For all.

            All Hail the Mighty Chief…

Money for training, equipment, and supplies—not for the top brass, and I say that as a retired colonel with 30 yrs service. Worked for some great GOs and was aroun some nut cases, but the same can be said for any rank.

In the 90’s it was crucial that we maintain air superiority. Therefore, we have the F15 to F22, F35, stealth, etc. And the defense dept. expenditures to prove it.

Today, it is drone capability. If you’ve seen the battle footage from the Russia-Ukraine ****show, you know a $1000 drone can take out several $1 million tanks on a single mission without risking a single soldier.

We must maintain air superiority but with an entirely new scenario.

Ditto with advanced hypersonic missiles and missile defense.

                All that costs big money.

PondPopper--it was my pleasure (most of the time). I had 2 bad assignments - in the 1st Armored Division in Germany--what's a guy who has done nothing but fly for 6 years know about tanks? And, my 3-year "sentence" in the Pentagon. Flying Dustoff-medical evacuation-is the best job in the Army, and I miss those days.
