What are your thoughts? While I'm not a fan of ambulance chasers, I don't see why we would give insurance companies special treatment. It's not like we cap how much they can charge us.

Are you talking about TX Senate Bill 30? That bill would require school districts and charter schools to provide instruction to students in grades 9-12 on proper interaction with peace officers during traffic stops and other in-person encounters.

I got a spam text earlier with this link. Are they saying it's about one thing when it's really about something else?

Texas lawmakers are rushing to pass a bill that puts insurance company profits ahead of accident victims. Senate Bill 30 would...

Not saying I agree or disagree, just that it doesn’t fit the description of the bill mentioned in the OP.

I think the one you're looking at is a TEA bill. This one is about limiting civil suit awards.

You should take a little time and look at YouTube.... just search Traffic Stops.

I don't know where some of these people got their DL, but they ****ed sure don't know the rules of the road. The amount of STUPIDITY with some of these people is breathtaking.
They think that if they disagree with the LEO that they should hold 'COURT' on the side of the friggin' road!! It is really unbelievable.... and; they all know THEIR RIGHTS!!

                  That was the 2017 legislature.

They are not going to name it the indoctrination act.

That is like naming the patriot act, the take your sovereign rights away act. or redemption day the cut your 401k by 25% day.

Right now we are searching for creative names for UBI, and CBDC's. I am hoping that one of them will be named "blueberry cheese cake". That way I can fully support it!

I was in Cryptologic Intelligence in Marines and when I was in if we even "suspected" a party in a conversation was a U.S. citizen we had to immediately stop without federal warrant or risk jail time. Then after 9-11 they opened it up and we've seen how it got weaponized against citizens in political and ideological persecutions, of course they wouldn't have a problem getting a warrant from all these liberal judges which is crazy because at one time "liberals" were all about peace, privacy and limited government. Been hearing big law firm in Dallas with radio ads saying they won't let them sue in court if a drunk driver in an 18 wheeler hits you, no court just a board or a judge to decide settlement. I'm on fence about it. I guess could then sue in civil court but that isn't real effective either to just get a judgement. Not sure if will fly, I've read where majority of members are attorneys then real estate people or at least used to be.

My friend's son was just hit by a semi and almost killed. Assuming the truck driver was at fault, I don't see why the state should limit any damages his family receives. But that's just me.

That article has too much bias to glean anything useful about the bill.

but I tend to agree with Donpablo, why should the state be able to cap damages?
