We had area one's when I grew up in Oklahoma and juniors and seniors went afternoon part of school, Mid America Votech is near Wayne, Oklahoma and that's area one our school went to. Of course they also pulled out "it's for school safety" card on our bond election for another entrance that they admitted they were going to build anyway for high school, that's always a good card to throw I mean who isn't for kids "safety" if against it you must hate kids, no I hate government waste and if it's my taxes it's government.

The state did make the districts break out in separate bonds the massive football/athletics facilities and also it has to state on the ballot "this is a tax increase", if they read the ballot.
ohI’m well aware. My statement was made with tongue firmly planted in cheek

Celina is trying to pass a 2.3 Billion dollar bond right now. They are also expecting an increase of 7000 students in the next 5 years. Thats lots of growth.

It put a bad taste in my mouth and I still see it happening. My sister is a teacher and every year has an amazon wish list that we all help her out with getting supplies for her classroom, yet things like stadiums still get built.
It's not even the stadiums really. Those at least have the potential to bring in revenue (increased attendance, hosting playoffs, championships etc.) For me, it's the MASSIVE indoor practice facilities that turn my stomach.

What gets me is these people move into houses that are very expensive and the property taxes on them get paid lions share of which is school taxes so where is that money ? Of course we know they spend every penny that's why if they need something they go for a bond package to borrow it.....

When is the last time any ISD actually tried to build a modest school? Or even try hard to build a big great school for lower cost? Just seems like they purposely spend millions more than needed every time.

The bonds one day will be the entire Countries downfall. When growth finally stops or a real depression hits there will be no way to pay them back. They literally count on growth which can be ok sometimes when needed if using conservative numbers but it sure seems like they go off loose numbers expecting massive growth AND max out the bonds.

Even San Saba is pushing bonds right now. It's crazy.

Especially when many of us went to schools with no AC and heat was marginal and education was better !!

Portable buildings until they acquired enough money to expand.

Imagine that. Being fiscally responsible. LOL

Now they can't do that because of "school safety"......always a good one.....same reason the open windows wouldn't be safe, yet one can actually exit an open window......that's what was told at ours about the portable buildings, it's just not safe having high school students "outside"....except for PE and other athletics then it's safe.....

Kids in Cleveland ISD (high school) are STILL in portable buildings while the administration is in a multi-million dollar multi story glass and steel high rise with all the bells n whistles!! If I was in that district, I'd be blowing a gasket at every board meeting... I get mad every time I drive into town and drive by that sucker!!

Yet these bonds are "for the kids".......ours was for teachers parking lot and offices and sold as "classrooms for Pirates" and got an art room and a music room and the rest of the $16 million went elsewhere. They did tear down old elementary that was being used for offices and nothing wrong with it......

New schools are built like 5 star resorts. Total waste of taxpayer’s money.

My oldest daughter went to Prosper high school first year it opened and I toured with her and another parent and her child, we were both blown away.....it was ridiculous. They had a food court with a Starbucks,or some coffee place, and other food places and the basketball gym was nicer than many universities with scoreboard hanging down in the middle and nice stadium seating not benches and so much open wasted space in the school the AC alone has to be mindboggling. Of course indoor and outdoor practice fields for the football teams. They have since gotten much bigger and my buddy lives in Celina but Prosper schools and last year or so a huge bond package was passed and he was ******, good thing though the massive football stadium one failed. They have since opened at least one more high school but can't say anything about it but I bet it's similar.

Tomball just had one pass a few years back, and here they are asking for more. How about we stop expanding schools so people stop wanting to come. Or better yet, a city like Katy or Tomball fund inner city schools so that the few good people left stop moving out.
