True. What doesnt make sense will remain overseas after the dust settles (years). The stance that everything needs to stay overseas...is crazy.

You are making Trumps point. If hot war breaks out with China... and all the experts say it's coming... Where in the heck will we get dang near everything? Time to manufacture here again. It's late in the game. We need to start now.

How long will it take to get the manufacturing back here, how long will it take, what is first and what is last?

Do we want the whole pie now? We've been the #1 economy in the world for a long time. These other countries that are friendly with us have to eat too. I'm not sure how this will play out,

I listened to this podcast over the weekend and he makes a compelling argument that the eastern Asian manufacturing model is in collapse and will likely collapse in the next decade because China doesn’t have the population in the next generation to support it. And economically they are teetering on collapse.

yes, but to Hunteraudit’s point, use a scalpel not a chainsaw. Target the industries we must have to survive: medicine and medical equipment, semiconductors and energy. Leave the rest largely alone.

Bringing manufacturing back to the US and the timeline is going to vary greatly, mainly on the type of product and needs and space to manufacture said product.

IMO, the tariff situation is going to shake itself out rather quickly. Yes, the stock market dropped, yes prices will go up and what ever we feel here in the US will be felt 10 fold in smaller countries. Let’s use Canada as example because they were a prime 1st target. What do they produce that we need? Lumber, we have it and can ramp up production in time, oil, we have it and a much better variety of crude, maple syrup, I’ll keep by Aunt Jemima. Not only will Canada lose on the trade side, the big hurt is when their plants start shutting down because companies start moving their businesses to the US. Just ask California how well taxing the hell out of their companies has worked out. These leaders in these other countries talking real tough right now but will bend knee rather quickly. These countries don’t have the resources we have and must import many things. All of Europe crying about Russia right now while sending them checks for their oil. Mexico is one of the few countries that could weather this if it wasn’t so **** corrupt. They have everything it takes to be a world power except leadership and control.

They've all been taking from us - knowingly - since WWII. We subsidize large parts of their economies. We fund 95% of their defense. They're like the 40 year old kids living in their mom's basement. It's time for them to grow up and fend for themselves.

This is designed to make everyone reduce tariffs. Its not an endless tariff war. Many countries will immediately start trad8ng on much more equal ground.

Sorry. Recently retired and I can’t help being concerned how all this is going to play out.
Same here. Retired in January. Now have 1 kid that has been laid off and no work. So I'm supporting her so she won't be on the street homeless. Then today I loose what WAS a full years after tax pay. I really can't take a recession, inflation, and inevitable price increases.

Harris would have been a disaster. I was a Trump supporter, but there is just so much I can take. If he screws over the country with the tariffs into the next election cycle we will play hell keeping a Republican WH, House, and Senate in 2 years. It won't happen.

Why can't he just keep his yap shut? That crap about Canada being a state, not ruling out the military to take Greenland, and running for a 3rd term?

Genuinely curious. Who do you think is going to teach the current 20-40 year olds how to manufacture things and who’s going to convince the 20-40 year olds to do those jobs? Most of them can’t manufacture a cheeseburger at McDonalds.
