I have a tenant who has been renting from us for 15 years who makes his living off import / export China / dollar store stuff...I bet he's keeping track!!

I saw where Apple flew in plane loads of iPhones to avoid the tariffs.

I have a good friend that ordered up 747’s for Apple during Covid to ship product because shippers and ports wouldn’t. He has been dealing with this tariff stuff and they had stuff shipping all over the world. The president pretty much covered it. They are in shock.

Flying a shipment doesn’t alleviate it from tariffs, unless it was just to beat the clock before the tariffs kicked in

That is exactly what it was for...the 104% doesn't happen till midnight I heard.

Watched a little TV today for the first time in a while.. Man they really know how to try and panic people 100% negative listing how much things "could" cost soon. Never once mentioned costs might not go up at all.

If the angle is to negotiate more favorable trade agreements for the U.S., I get that. I don’t necessarily like the way he went about it, and we should acknowledge the countries which we have a trade surplus with (ex. Taiwan - doesn’t follow the aforementioned logic to tariff their imports).

if the angle really is to bring manufacturing “back to the US”, I think it is naive. I don’t believe large companies with global supply chains and revenue streams will build ridiculously expensive facilities that take years to complete, just to avoid tariffs on the short term based on political whims. These same tariffs can be revoked in a day with the next administration in less than 4 years.

And that month or so lasted less than 24 hours. You are sweating, and rightfully so.

One would think China has no choice but to compromise and bow because without the US buying their goods and the US supplying them energy they won't make it. But I would not put it past that psycho Xi Jingping to let his people starve and freeze to death to prove a point.

If he does he does, that's their own problem but this is about what is best for this country and its citizens. Americans will be just fine and better off not buying cheap crap from them anyways, no matter how much it inconveniences the weak. I'm looking forward to Chyyna trying to call our bluff and the screws tightening even more until they have to come to the table.

Daddy is home and he's taking his belt off to deal with all of the entitled spoiled brats.

Yet they are. I am willing to bet most all the tariff negotiations will have been completed before the next presidential election and there will be very little for President Trump to revoke.

Exactly. There has already been over 5 trillion dollars committed by several big corporations (Apple, Microsoft, Ford, etc...) to build new manufacturing facilities immediately in the US, and that number is growing.

China will be the only country that tries to fight. And they will lose. This may lead to the downfall of the CCP, similar to the fall of the USSR under Reagan.
