I'm sure there are plenty of similar minerals that are on earth, that are also on Mars. What's really cool is, think of all the black powder a person could make with it.

And? Sulfur can be made in the absence of water? Volcanos can release sulfide gases like sulfur dioxide or hydrogen sulfide which oxidize.
