Fntl was just 3D chess...tariff is really all about the $$$$.

Demand never goes away & predict sourcing could turn local and/or price is going up.

Will be fun to watch :-)

The demand side is more of what I’m asking about. I too think the demand will stay strong. So how will the supply be filled? If we know one thing about narcotic suppliers, it is that they are capitalists and they will fill holes in the supply chain. It’s just a question of how.

Tariffs is one part of the solution. People will always find ways to get drugs so it will never go away. But if you make it harder and more expensive it can slow things down IMO

Before corrupt Mexico police were most likely not only doing zero to slow the flow but probably in on the money making actually helping them.

Now Mexico has to choose. Keep allowing and/or pushing drugs over the border or pay costly tariffs that will cost them more money.

I have no idea how much it will help but it's better than doing nothing. Putting pressure on other Countries to do the right thing can't be bad. He's also using them to force Mexico to stop allowing illegals to pass through to America.

This is all about eliminating supply competition in a very lucrative market. We have seen it before.

Yall trust what your television tells you way too much. TV is your source for lies.

I know a young kid that died last Tuesday from Fentanyl. You see the deaths daily/hourly on the news from places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland and its just seems like another day. Feels different when it hits home.

As long as there's a demand there will be a supplier. The US Mexico border is big rough country. I don't know what the answer is. I'm against the legalize it all crap but realize fighting it is a huge suck on resources. In the end I believe it's going to come down to the consumer. If you make those choices you have to assume the possible outcome of those decisions.

How many here think that Trump would be willing to risk crashing the economy on his watch over some dang Fentnyl? No way. He legally can’t do anything that interferes with the NAFTA agreements unless it poses a national security threat, therefore the Fentanyl “Threat” is why we keep hearing about fentanyl. I heard someone from his cabinet say the pretext for tariffs may change in April. I think these tariffs are a super dumb idea, and his back and forth, on and off, with them is freaking the markets out.

If what I saw was remotely accurate, then Trump really is pretty much in the driver's seat...read where Canada's tariffs account for 20% of their GDP & Mexico was around 30%.

                  Ours was under 3%.

Less drug users = Less drugs inbound

Union wages would drive costs up to the point non-working American's could no longer afford a basic fix.

Conventional wisdom would argue, no he (Trump) does not want to tank the economy on his watch, because it would jeopardize the mid term elections. But he’s not using Congress for any of his agenda anyway, it is all executive order and departmental policy changes that don’t require Congress. So maybe conventional wisdom doesn’t apply here.

and I agree the tarriffs are making it dangerous near impossible to price goods and services profitably because they change before they can be delivered.

Interesting point. Senators and congressmen up for election in the midterm might have a different take on that though.
