When they fire these generals and admirals does that actually mean fired or made to retire? I know many of them need to be fired but do believe they earned a retirement. Well, except a few who defied and saught to undermine President Trump

Some, like C.Q. Brown who was serving a 4 year term as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, were relieved of duty only as chairmen of the Joint Chiefs. I believe he is still a 4 star General. As far as any lower ranking Generals, when fired, I believe they are offered retirement, which means they get full benefits.

And once you attain certain ranks in both officer and enlisted if you miss being promoted X amount of times, passed over, you are forced to retire. When they say they are "firing" these generals they may also be pigeon holing them in some office without any real "job" so they can't infuse their wokeness into the forces which is a blow to their egos and would most likely retire. It's already crushing some of them to be working for a mere Major as Sec Def, now a civilian wouldn't bother them since they could BS their way through and especially one that embraced wokeness. Or some flag officers in an attempt to go higher were more than happy to implement and push the wokeness to make the administration "happy" with their work instead of disagreeing and sticking with what makes the military a great fighting force. The cream doesn't always rise to the top and anyone that has worked in government at any level can attest to that, me included.
