Before you ask too many questions...It's complicated. LOL
We have been on Medi-Share for a long time now. I still never know exactly what's covered or not. I just go see if it's covered. If it's not I pay cash. But it ends up being a pooch screw every time. I'm talking Doc visits, blood work etc.
I think it's clear(er) what's covered (or you can ask) for surgeries etc.
Overall in relation to price I think it has been the best deal for our family.

It is NOT insurance. For instance, many major hospitals will not accept it for admittance... I have experience with MD Anderson, the #1 cancer center hospital on the planet. Dear friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer by his PCP... He went to MD Anderson for consultation. This was back in about 2014/15... They would only accept him as a patient for treatment if he put up $19,000 cash to get started. The man died looking for a hospital / doctor that would treat him because he did not have insurance. He was too proud of a man to go to public health centers... LBJ/Ben Taub hospital here in Harris county...
If you can afford to be self insured, it's fine. Just like Tim posted above, if you can pay cash, it's not a bad deal to have for some things, but if you can't pay up front, it is not likely to end well for you.
I can site other examples, but that has been my experience in working with folks I personally know that had that medi-share type plan.

I have had medi-share since 2018 and love it. For a family of 4, we pay around $362 a month compared to $2,000 or (more) for a PPO plan. once you hit your family "Annual Household Portion" or deductible, the bills are covered. You can set this higher or lower depending on your situation.
I estimate I have saved over $100,000 in premiums over the years. And that is a low estimate.
