It pains me greatly to say this because I have kids and grandkids, but this country is doomed.
We have let the freak show and corruption get too far out of control.
It will collapse from within before it is corrected.

Not true. The fire hydrant tou see is just a cap on the bonnet of the valve. The valve is in line down at the water line where it is installed. The top of the fire hydrant supports the end of the valve stem extension. It is attached to the valve stem with a slip coupling. If the valve is closed, which is the normal condition of a fire hydrant, the hydrant can be removed from the bonnet extension easily. Now about selling them for scrap, it would be a touchy deal to try that I’d imagine.

You're correct..on our hydrants here in Texas or anywhere else they have freezing weather. The fire plug in that pic(I think) looks like a wet pipe where there are only two hook-ups, each having a valve directly behind it and no valve stem on top. That allows a second line to be hooked up without shutting the plug down. Be interesting for sure to see someone trying to steal that joker if it is in fact under pressure tho!lol

That's cool! Looking back at that original pic, I didn't notice that it was a wet pipe plug! Interesting that it appears to take the same "wrench" to turn it on as our plugs here (pentagonal head).
