Question: What is the alternative that the Biden Administration is pushing for to replace these? Did I overlook that?

Remember renewable energy will be government controlled and rationed. Rationed=total control over every aspect of your life.

They "accidently" lost most of the comments then in spite of the overwhelming comments against the rule, they implemented it anyway under the cover of darkness. They didn't even bother to put out a press release announcing the new rule.
That's where I am & really don't like that one person can do these sort of sweeping changes...the buyer & seller followed the rules & produced / purchased a product approved by the govt.

It's like the drilling ban he signed today...Trump said he was going to reverse it, but Fox did a bit where it may have to go through congress to get reversed??

I've had electric, on demand, water heaters for the last 4 houses over a 36 year span and wouldn't have any other kind. I've seen multiple threads on here talking about how bad electric is and how much your electric bill will jump, blah, blah, blah, woof, woof, woof, yada, yada, yada. Our electric bill actually went down in the first house I had when we swapped it out. We just had 2 couples visiting for 3 days and every one got hot showers. On demand water heaters have been used in Europe for 30 years longer than in the USA with great success.

I put 2 in our most recent house. They are Rheem and were about $365 about 4 years ago. I installed them my self as I have with all we've had. Very easy to do. I highly recommend them.

Can’t argue with these facts you are stating above. And it just proves I have took it in the pants on the last two C3 on demands I bought and had installed.

I’ve had them in houses and recently put one on a camper. I only have experience with LPG models. I’ve been impressed. I’ve went 2 seasons on my camper at the lease without swapping the regular sized propane bottle. I have only used rinnai.

I have a gas tankless system. My only regret was not putting in 2.

So they will pull all the gas ones off the market, and only offer electric replacement alternatives? Is this just an easy plug and play swap?

I didn't read the article, but I have a newer natural gas instant hot water/tankless system. Works great! Gas bill it much lower than our old house, but pretty sure our new house is insulated a lot better.

the electric ones require multiple 30 amp circuits. So besides the plumber, most folks would require an electrician to run the additional lines

The problem with the gas is getting a gas supply to where you can put the heater. The problem with the electric is getting a 40 amp electric line to where you want the heater. In the last house I installed a Stiebel Eltron and put it under the down stairs bathroom sink. It was relatively easy to get a wire down the wall and into the back of the cabinet. It's still working great for the people we sold the house to 25 years later.

On my previous house, we put a smaller one in each end of the house. They are Rheem and were best rated when we were building. One is in the mud room and the other is in a closet in the master bath. They were very easy to install.

My almost 30yo ng powered Tikagi is still working flawless. If needs replacing, will replace with another. Would never have another tank version.
