Very cold weather on the way

I understand it is supposed to be in the low 20's about a week from now.

Models are starting to agree that a dump of arctic air is set to plunge into the central CONUS next week. There is discrepancies on when, intensity and where and we likely won’t know those details until wed/thurs at the earliest.

Model ensembles show anything from “record breaking cold” to a standard run of the mill. And from heavy snow to almost
no moisture.

my gut says that this gets shunted slightly east with the bulk of cold over Tennessee and Ohio River valley and the western 2/3 of Texas just get a glancing blow and little to no moisture. But just as I say that models are beginning to trend more westward and pushing the core of the cold down them western side of the Mississippi River valley, which will have a much more meaningful impact on Texas and Oklahoma

what’s is more interesting is that this looks like it’s setting up a pattern change for a rinse and repeat where the Arctic discharges, recharges and dumps again. Oscillation in the air currents in the northeast pacific and northwest Atlantic looks to set up a blocking feature that creates a channel where the only escape for bottled up cold air is straight into the heart of the US

That’s not far from the low temps I’ve been seeing projected around then over the past few days so I’m just curious. I might go ahead and service both generators just to be safe though, check the fuel cans as well.

I’m going to do a little prep though with the uncertainty. It should lessen having to deal with morons if the worst case does happen.

We were in Kansas this past weekend and the hunting was slow.. Pretty sure they were killing ducks in Canada last week.
