Martial law declared in South Korea

I just heard about this, and it came out of nowhere. I’m trying to read up to find out the why behind it all. Just wanted to let others know as I know we have a lot of our men and women over there.

SEOUL, Dec 3 (Reuters) - South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Tuesday declared martial law in a surprise late-night TV address, slamming domestic political opponents and sending shockwaves through the country.
Yoon said opposition parties had taken the parliamentary process hostage. He vowed to eradicate "shameless pro-North Korean anti-state forces" and said he had no choice but to take the measure to safeguard constitutional order.

Sounds like one more hot spot that could erupt into yet another conflict that will demand US assistance… I wouldn't be surprised if the north attempts to meddle in what ever is going on.

I think we all knew the world was a kindling box, but this makes for even greater uncertainty

I saw parliament immediately impeached him. Sounds like an internal dispute the US should have no part in other than to mediate. Too bad we don't have a single government agency capable of performing this task.

If we wanted to end it quick...."Hey SK, get your **** straight or we remove ALL of our troops immediately. Your move."

The corruption at the government level in SK is awful. Their president Yoon Suk Yeol was polling at 19% approval ratings couple weeks ago.
They are trying to impeach him now through the proper legal route but its not going as smooth as it should. Yeol did not go through all the proper legal routes either to issue the martial law and send troops into congressional building. Its all a mess.

Great.......I'll never get tractor parts now if I need them.......have 2 Kia's too........just read that he revoked the order soon after declaring it when their government met to impeach him......probably wouldn't have gotten any traction from the military either.....
