If it’s illegal to have a specific animal in your state, don’t post on social media if you have it. Pretty dumb and unfortunately it got his pets euthanized.

    Social media at its finest.

What other stuff? It’s not a conspiracy theory. It’s blowing up on social media and turned into political thing. At the end of the day, Wildlife departments do not care how much of a following an illegally kept animal has, it is still illegal. Plain and simple. How many other wild animals probably get confiscated and euthanized? Probably a lot more than we know of. How many wild animals get put down because tourists feed bears, seals, or whatever and then they become dangerous because they lack fear of humans? Happens all the time too.

I’m not saying I don’t feel bad for the little guy and I wish there could’ve been a different solution, but it was illegal to have him at the end of the day.

I just honestly thinks it’s ridiculous it’s become such a big story, but again, social media at its finest.

The scuttlebutt on X was that they were using the squirrel in their Only Fans side hustle. Something about squirrels and nutts.

You totally missed the point. It doesn’t take a swat team raid to confiscate a squirrel. It should have been handled by a single squirrel sheriff who could have released the little nut eater unharmed.

If only I/we could think of any other illegal activities that go completely ignored by our government. Maybe they know best and this squirrel was at the top of the list for a reason.

I guess you missed the part where they were animal rehab people and had every legal reason to have the squirrel, coon and any other animal in their possession.

Maybe there’s more to the story that we don’t know about? Much like most other things we learn about on social media? Preemptive threats made by the owner to others after hearing they were coming after his squirrel?

Who knows? I sure as heck don’t and neither do 99% of us. IF there’s nothing else to the story, then that’s ridiculous. Maybe their local swat guys needed a practice run for all I know. (Just kidding, kinda)

A captive animal for that long would never be just released back into the environment anyway.

A bigger story is the wildlife guys and cops that accidentally captive bolted a LEGALLY owned boa with about 100k worth of eggs inside of her because they grabbed the wrong snake. Where the outrage from everyone on that??

I think what we have all learned here is that a lot of people can't spell squirrel.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but from a little research, the owner was not adequately licensed to legally keep the squirrel. Yes he had a “non-profit sanctuary” but did not have the proper licensing. He had the squirrel for 7 years. He had plenty of time to get the proper licensing

Its nuts how many on here have rat-holed that part of their education and forgotten where they put it.

Just listen to yourself. Can you imagine a country that has nothing better to do than check for people harboring a squirrel without a license? A fricking squirrel license!

The evil rodent they killed to test for rabies (wore a maga hat)...I could post dozens if not hundreds of other videos of people who have raised wild critters to become pets. No kidding, it's a real thing that happens & nobody else cares.

We did the same, but let Squiggy go...feed him at the window daily.
