[QUOTE=Cberry;n26911589]when we are watching hunting videos on Youtube we get the "Cruz has made Texas dangerous for women ad" often. I don't think I have seen any Allred ads though. I’ve seen those ads. “Texas is dangerous for women” is code for “ now your affecting my paycheck “.
I do think he’ll lose. He prevailed over the fake white Mexican, beto, by two points I believe last time.

I’ve never understood this, but as long as it exists, until we get rid of the abortion issue, it will always be a political football.
Frankly, I’d like to see the government remove itself from the abortion issue altogether. Not sure if that will ever happen, though.

EXACTLY. Roe V Wade should have never been touched. This will be the hill the Republicans die on.......and they will die on it.
The Conservative Party needs to wake up, and wake up soon. This group will only continue to get larger as time goes on. Best not to disenfranchise them.

the issue is also communication and narrative from the Rs. Instead of taking a victory lap, they should have messaged “great, now the real work needs to be done. Roll up you sleeves folks, we’ve just given you the power to decide at your state level how abortion will be handled. If you, as a populace decide to keep it, you also get to choose on what terms .
Uncle Sam shouldn’t have ever decided this for you. You and your neighbors should device what’s best.
instead, while the Rs did their victory lap, the Dems took control of the narrative that this RIGHT was taken away from you. When in fact the people have been EMPOWERED

Again, I agree completely. My early-30s daughter and her bevy of (conservative) friends take their right to make personal choices about their reproductive health very seriously; and it is a hill they’re willing to die on. They clearly don’t outnumber the women in the party who are beyond their childbearing years…yet.

When Democrats take over congress.....standing on your principals doesn't mean shiet!
Sometimes you have to compromise..or risk losing everything. I think were very close to this myself.

Agree completely. What’s interesting though, is that over the last 10 to 15 years, the far right in the Republican Party has grown exponentially and, up until recently, the way to win an election was to play to your base, get them out to vote. The fact is, though, as it is in the general population, 50-51% of the far right are women, women who chose to uphold the “right to life” banner, literally to the exclusion of supporting a woman’s right to chose what happens to their own bodies.
