Yes a state can do as it wishes for electors. They have to follow the laws of that state though or the state can punish them. I have read that some states may have as little as a $500 fine.
Article 2 section 1. I was way off.... lol

I know states have laws concerning this topic. I'm a simple person though, and after 2020, the bottom line I took from the debate post election, was that ultimately, the state legislatures have the power to simply send electors to congress and vote however they please, even if it violates "law" or goes against the "democratically elected" person in that state. The Constitution is the highest law of the land, and it gives that "plenary power" to the state legislatures.

Trump's super power has always been his ability to dominate the news cycle.
He made more headlines the last four years by saying anything necessary to keep himself in the news.
Now he faces the possibility of being second and sometimes third billing for at least the next 4 weeks.
      Look for
Someone else to enter the "open" convention process. they have no chance to win but keep it in the news for 2 weeks while Kamalla gathers delegates
Afterwards, Kamalla's VP pick (Mark Kelly) dominates news cycle until convention.
GOP had a great convention. Let us see if the Dems can also put on a good show.
They will write a good story with a benevolent Uncle Joe putting party and country over pride to make way for a new star.

It would be best for Trump to avoid debating Kamalla.
He may be forced to debate to regain the news cycle.
His instincts may drive him to regain the cycle with negative attention before or during the Dems convention.
Republicans challenge to keep Kamalla off the ticket will only drive Trump lower in the news cycle.

Interesting turn of events. Looks too complicated to have been planned. Then again, I remember Man warning in a thread about Biden doing poorly in the debate.

        👍🏼

This all has to be settled by December 17 which is the day that the president will actually be elected this year.

It's kind of cool, Trump just beat Biben and now he's going to beat another woman.

Sure makes RFK look better and better…I voted for Trump in 16 and 20…most likely will vote for him again, but like many of you, I fear his big mouth and inflated self-ego won’t let him remain humble and spread his unity message without going of the rails and devolution into personal attacks. Dude just can’t help himself.

If you even think for one second that RFK would be a possible choice, you're part of the problem!

                      Certainly.

There is no way that RFK can be the president short of running on the Democratic ticket.

People can simply not vote or vote for anyone they want to in order to throw away that chance to vote but on January 20, 2025 either Trump or the Democrat to be named later will take the oath of office.

It has nothing to do with the popularity of RFK, but rather the US Constitution.
