Well at least he didn’t call his potential boss a racist on the debate stage. There’s a story out there about his transition from being a Never Trumper that I’m interested in reading. But yes you are correct.

In 2016 the people on this website hated Trump. Only a few of us were on the Trump train. Everyone else were pulling for lie’n Ted. Funny how people can change.

Who is JD Vance and why is he a compliment to Trump?

Other than hes a junior senator in his first 2 years of his first term.

I'll admit, I didn't think he could ever pull off what he did to get in, or what he did when he got in....that yank made a believer out of me.

I voted for Carson in the 2016 primary & was also one of those he grew on the more he got attacked & watch him govern...didn't have anything to hate about, but didn't trust why a famous billionaire wanted the job.

Lots of people were down on trump when he first announced...never trumpers / tds came along later as the msm lied & used propaganda telling the world he's evil every day.

According to Joe Biden's statement he is an exact clone of DJT.

Semper Fi, VP Vance.... likely the first enlisted Marine to be on the ticket.

This seems to be a recurring theme. Last night one of the speakers at the RNC, Amber Rose, a black model and TV personality spoke about how she moved from believing Trump was a racist to now publicly endorsing him. She said her father challenged her to look at his rhetoric and policies without applying the lens of the media. And when she did, she found no racism, no bigotry, she found opportunity for all. And she moved from dislike to loving Trump.

i think this will be the central theme of his message, expressing converts who have taken a neutral look and realized they had been duped by the left and it’s propaganda barking dogs. Couple this with JD Vance, who has a similar story, I think they are hoping to create an environment where “closet Trump supporters “ can be open, and for those teetering, maybe they take a non objective look. Especially in communities of color.

I didn't vote for Trump in '16, because I didn't believe that he would do anything that conservatives like me would applaud. He'd always been a New York center-left guy that cozied up to the establishment. But he changed. He was still a childish and classless jerk sometimes, but he got a lot of truly good stuff done. He also blew it on some things, but so do I sometimes. I enthusiastically voted for him in 2020, even though I still didn't think much of him as a man. My opinion of him as a man hasn't changed a whole lot. I do respect and value his fearlessness and leadership abilities. I'd swim through molten lava to vote for him this November, regardless of his shortcomings. Whoever the alternative is gonna be, Trump will BY FAR be the better choice.

If Trump can change his opinions and I can change mine, I'm pretty sure Vance can too. It's the people who can't ever change any of their opinions that I worry about the most.

I think he will be a good one. It would be nice to see Orange Man do 4 and Vance do 8.

I hope it works out that way, too.

This was my thinking, too, at the time. In 2016, he was the last person on which I’d put money to win. However, like many others, I was happy to see some of the changes—TRUE changes—that he was able to make.

In 2024, every time he opens his mouth, I still cringe, but he’s got my vote nonetheless.

You are right. In'16, I voted for Cruz and wanted Trump if Cruz didn't win. I am 100% Trump since then. Cruz is still a good man for us.

Well said Shane, and this pretty much describes my feelings too, except I didn't "vote for" Trump, but he did get my vote... I "voted against" Hillary! 2020, I wholeheartedly voted FOR Trump... and will do so in '24.

For me, the biggest thing he missed on for me was that he was not better prepared for what he had to know was coming in 2020.
